Chapter 34

I was blinded by the light.
I wear my sunglasses at night
I was in a great mood; the day had gone great, and all the girls had orgasms already, except one. My access to the police systems meant that I would soon be able to find out more about this cult that gave me these powers and if there was any kind of connection between Nancy's scammer and myself.
To top it off, Nancy was making my favorite tonight—stuffed cabbage rolls. My favorite song came on the radio, and I started to loudly sing as I made my way through the two-lane backroads. It was just after 6 p.m., dusk had settled in, the air was cool, the humidity was finally under control, and a bit of fog was starting to move in.
As I crested a familiar hill, I saw headlights on the other side—not uncommon because of the time of day—but I noticed something strange: they weren't where they should be; instead of being to my left, they looked like they were coming straight at me. Before my body could react, the SUV crested the hill almost completely in my lane. I was able to start to turn slightly into oncoming traffic, but it happened in a 10th of a second.
The sound was deafening, it sounded like a bomb had exploded right next to my head. I remember the sensation of spinning and weightlessness before a very hard landing.
Luckily, gravity told me I was right-side up. Intuitively, I released my seat belt and tried to get out of the driver's door, which had been destroyed by all the airbags going off. It wouldn't budge, so I crawled over to the passenger side and tried to open it. It was stuck too, but I could see it was because of the impact the side pillar had pushed past the door. I had to try to get it open; this was the only way out unless I started breaking out the windows. I grabbed the side pillar with one hand and pushed as hard as I could with the other, and I was shocked as metal bent to my will, forcing the door open.
Once I was out of the car, I looked around and found the SUV upside down and in bad shape. It was smoking badly, and I could smell gas everywhere.
I looked to make sure there weren't cars coming and dashed across the street to the wreck. I tried to assess what was going on; I couldn't see where the driver was. I then looked in the back seat, and there she was, probably in her early 20s, i would guess. She was balled up between the two captain chairs; it must have happened when the SUV started flipping.
I tried to get into the SUV, but no dice. So I called 911 and gave my approximate location.
Just then, the worst thing that could possibly happen happened. The battery sparked, and all that gas and vapor ignited. The ground and SUV lit up like a bonfire, but the vapor exploded, throwing me back a few feet and burning my face and arms. There was no hair remaining on that side of my body.
My adrenaline was rushing, I am sure of it, because I got up and didn't feel pain. I ran to the SUV and grabbed the back door again, using my leg to push with all my might against the sheet metal, which buckled under my foot, and the door, handle, and outer sheetmetal of the door ripped right off.
I threw the door at the fire to try and keep it off me for a second. My mind was trying to make sense of the insane feats of strength i was performing, but my lungs were starting to burn from the smoke billowing out of the engine bay. I reached in, trying to extract her, but she was wedged in between the seats.
I grabbed the captain's chair that was closest to me. The heat and flames licked at my back, and the smoke was so thick now that it was like inhaling hot black coffee instead of air. I dug my hands into the seat and, with a strong pull, snapped it off its floor rails and tossed it behind me. I scooped up the petite blonde and moved her about 20 feet from the crash before everything started to catch up to me. I swayed on my feet, dropping down to my knees. My eyes watering and breath ****, I managed to text one thing to Jen's cellphone: "accident, hurt" before my eyes blurred and I felt light as a feather. The last thing I remember is the smell of the grass as my head hit the ground. I then completely lost consciousness.
