New Arrivals

You and the others got on with your day, Sara worked on moving while Amy and Nyx got the house they would be staying in ready. You worked on getting the truck ready, there wasn't supposed to be snow between you and Boise but it was close enough that you thought it prudent to be prepared. As you finally got ready to leave Amy approached you at the truck, the sky was gray and there was an extra chill in the air.

"Drive safe," she said hugging you, "it's just one night."

You kissed her pulling her waist into yours, "feels like an eternity."

Amy giggled but then her smile faded, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was talking to Doctor Paige, I mean outside of therapy."

"It's ok," you said, "I want to help people, however we do it."

"She's really hurting," said Amy.

"I know," you said, "I'm trying to give her space."

Amy kissed you holding your face between her hands, "I'm really happy though."

You kissed her back holding her tight to you, "I am too."

"Drive safe," said Amy as you climbed into the truck.

About an hour later you made it into Boise and the airport. Your first pick ul would be in soon so you sat in cell phone parking waiting. Noah texted you a short time later that he had landed and you pulled up to the gate. Amy had given you pictures of everyone so you had an idea of who to look for.

Soon you spotted the fit blonde dodging people and trying it seemed to become invisible. He wore a tight hoodie and jeans neither of which would do him much against this cold.

"Noah," you said getting out of the truck.

The shivering boy shook your hand and you pulled off your jacket wrapping it around him.

"Dave?" he asked

"That's me," you said putting his bag in the covered bed as he climbed into the truck.

"Amy said cold," said Noah shivering, "I didn't know she meant this cold."

Flurries were starting and you hoped thats all it would be.

"Lets get you to the hotel," you said, "hot shower will help."

He nodded and cranked the heat. You checked in and brought Noah up to the room, his bag was light, it didn't seem he'd brought much.

"You hungry?" you asked.

Noah shook his head still huddled under your coat.

"Noah," you said, "I'm here to help."

He nodded that he understood but didn't say much.

"Well I need to go get the next person," you said, "you have my number I'll be back later. If you want anything charge it to the room."

Noah didn't speak just nodding.

"Amy will send you a link, use it to order yourself some winter clothes, that way they'll be there when we get home."

You turned to leave, "Dave," he finally said, "thank you."

"Don't mention it," you said.

You called Amy as you drove back to the airport.

"Hey Ames," you said, "Noah is at the hotel going to get Cheri now."

"Oh good," she said, "any trouble?"

"Well he almost froze to **** walking to the truck," you said, "did you warn him about the cold?"

"It's not that cold," said Amy.

"Ames you grew up here," you said, "it's cold."

"Oh yeah," she said, "he is from Florida."

"Flurries here," you said, "hopefully it blows away."

"Be safe Dave," said Amy the concern in her voice palpable.

Soon you were back at the airport and saw the tall black girl looking nervously around.

"Cheri," you said approaching her, her worry faded and she smiled shaking your hand.

"Dave," she said, "Amy has told me so much about you."

Cheri was more prepared for the cold and had a much heavier bad than Noah had.

"It was so nice of you to come and get me I never know how people in states like this are goingtoact," said Cheri, "white people are bad enough around me because of my skin color and then I have the audacity to be trans on top of it."

"Well I hope I can be the exception," you said.

You got back to the hotel and brought Cheri up to a room adjoined to Noah's.

"Make yourself comfortable," you said, "I have one more person to get. If you need anything charge it to the room, did Amy send you the link."

"She did," said Cheri, "Amy was very thorough, though she didn't tell me how cute you were."

You blushed, "I'll be back," you said.

You checked in on Noah who was asleep, a half eaten cheeseburger on the nightstand next to him.

The flurries were now just snow and as you pulled back up to the gate to get Riley the radio announced they were grounding flights, Riley it seemed had just made it. You found Riley in loose jeans, a large jacket and beanie standing outside the airport seemingly unfazed by the cold.

"Riley?" you asked loudly over the wind.

They nodded and followed you to the truck. Riley extended a hand as they sat down in the truck, "Dave right?"

"Right," you said, "you just made it."

"Luckily," said Riley, "Noah and Cheri already here?"

"Yeah," you said driving slowly towards the hotel, "you all know each other?"

"Through Doctor Paige," said Riley, "she likes us to chat with other people in her program so we know we're not alone."

You brought Riley upstairs and gathered everyone in Noah's room. He was awake Ndd had finished his burger.

"Alright," you said, "everyone is here so barring a blizzard we'll head out tomorrow morning."

"What are the sleeping arrangements?" asked Riley.

"Um whatever," you said, "we have two rooms I can ask for more."

"I don't really care," said Cheri.

"Me either," said Noah.

"Well you all know each other, I don't know any of you," you said, "so tell me what you want."

"Well let's introduce ourselves," said Cheri as Riley rolled their eyes, "I'll go first, I'm Cheri, I'm from Atlanta and I'm trans."

Riley and Noah gave each other looks before Noah finally spoke up, "Noah, from Orlando, trans."

"Riley, New Hampshire, non binary."

"Dave," you said, "originally from New York City, cis."

"Well I mean you and Noah are both dudes," said Riley, "so you two share a room and I'll get my own."

"Can't share for one night?" asked Cheri.

You called down but given the airport shutting down the hotel was now full.

"Well that will complicate things," you said.
