What's next?

Next Morning

The morning sun streams through the curtains, casting a warm glow over John's room as his alarm blares at 6:00 AM. He yawns, reaching out to silence the noise, and takes a moment to stretch, feeling the satisfying pull of his muscles. Last night's party left him in high spirits, and he's eager to tackle the day ahead.

After a quick shower, John dresses in a casual outfit: jeans and a navy blue t-shirt. He grabs his backpack and heads downstairs, the smell of bacon and pancakes guiding him toward the kitchen.

As he enters the kitchen, he's greeted by the sight of his stepmom, Ava, standing by the stove, expertly flipping pancakes. Ava is a warm and caring woman, always up early to ensure her family starts the day with a good breakfast. Her smile brightens as she sees John.

"Good morning, John," she says cheerfully. "How was the party last night?"

"It was great, thanks," John replies, taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Met some really nice people."

Just then, Emily and Riley, John's twin sisters, burst into the kitchen, their faces lit up with excitement. The two seniors are inseparable, sharing the same energy and enthusiasm for life.

"Morning, John!" they chime in unison, plopping down into their seats.

"Morning, you two," John responds with a grin. "Ready for school?"

"Always," Emily says, grabbing a piece of bacon from the plate in the center of the table.

John chuckles, watching his sisters' animated conversation. He fills his plate with pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs, savoring the hearty breakfast. Ava joins them at the table, and they all settle into a comfortable rhythm, the sounds of clinking cutlery and cheerful chatter filling the room.

"So, John," Ava begins, pouring herself a cup of coffee. "Any plans for today after school?"

"Not much," John replies between bites. "Just some homework and maybe hitting the gym. I met someone at the party who might join me for a workout."

"Oh, really?" Ava raises an eyebrow, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "Anyone special?"

John feels a slight blush creeping up his neck. "Just a friend of Mrs. Carter's. Her name's Sarah."

Emily and Riley exchange glances, their curiosity piqued. "Ooh, a workout date?" Emily teases.

"It's not a date," John protests, laughing. "Just two people working out together."

"Sure, sure," Riley says, winking at him. "We'll see."

As breakfast winds down, John helps clear the table and wash the dishes. The morning routine is a well-oiled machine in their household, and before long, they're all ready to head out the door.

"Have a great day at school, kids," Ava says, hugging each of them in turn. "And John, good luck with your workout."

"Thanks, Ava," Johnsays, returning the hug. "See you later."

With that, John, Emily, and Riley grab their backpacks and head out the door, ready to take on the day.
