Chapter 31 by DellVi DellVi

What's next?

An Existential Crisis?

"Are you actually a human? Were you really born on Earth? What if you were made in a lab?"
These questions whirl through your mind, a frightful panic quickly rising within you.

Kira notices your distress and her demeanor shifts. "Hey, calm down," she says, her voice unexpectedly gentle.

"How can I?" you respond, your voice shaky. "You're right, nothing adds up. I just believed everything that was fed to me, but now I don't know if I can trust anything that's been told to me."

She gazes at you cautiously, her eyes narrowing slightly. "This isn't an act?"

"What?" you reply incredulously, feeling a mix of confusion and frustration.

She sighs, a hint of exasperation in her voice, before adding, "Look, if you're genuinely grappling with some sort of existential crisis right now, believe me, you're just a regular human from Earth. I saw your file and body back on Earth."

You look at her apprehensively, your anxiety barely contained. "How can I trust you?"

Kira meets your gaze, her eyes steady. "I guess you can't. Not completely. But you can trust your gut. Forget about me for a second—do the rest of the crew seem like liars to you?"

You take a moment to collect yourself, focusing on your breathing to quell the rising panic. Kira's words resonate with you; maybe trusting your instincts is the best course of action for now. Despite the uncertainties surrounding your identity and situation, a sense of assurance washes over you, telling you that you're not in immediate danger and that these people are reliable.

Kira observes your efforts to compose yourself, meeting your gaze with a raised eyebrow as if silently urging you to pull yourself together. "Look," she says, her tone tinged with exasperation, "I'm not a therapist. If you need help with something, I suggest you talk to Camille."

You exhale slowly. "My gut's telling me you're right. I'll trust you for now," you reply, your voice steadier now

She rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed by the sudden shift in dynamics. "How did this turn from me not trusting you to you not trusting me? This is ridiculous."

You can't help but chuckle at the irony of the situation.
