Just as Helen and Cindy begin to settle in to prepare for the jump into hyperspace, the beeping of the ship’s computer startles them.
“Captain! We have an incoming transmission.” Helen exclaims as she rapidly taps at her crystal display screen.
“From who?” Cindy cocks her head in surprise.
Helen turns to look at the young captain, her face ashen. “Your father.”

My beloved daughter Cindy.
Today marks the day you set out on your own as a fully fledged captain. I wish you nothing but the best of luck. However, your dear father cannot rest easy knowing that a young, innocent girl like you is all alone out there in this cruel world.
I know I said that I wanted you to be independent, but please, grant your father one final indulgence. You already have Helen, one of my most trusted lieutenants by your side, but I would like there to be someone who is capable of protecting you physically. Thus, I have asked for your brother, Cody, to accompany you during your adventure.

“Cody was your brother?” Helen looks at Cindy in shock. “I never knew!”
Cindy scoffs. “Well, I wasn’t that close to him anyway. Dad favored him since he was a male and took him along all his adventures while I was stuck at home.”
How long has it been since I’ve last seen Cody? I vaguely remember him as a straggly boy that I always fought with. I was so jealous that Dad brought him on all his trips that we always ended up arguing whenever he came back.
While Cindy was lost in thought, Helen too was panicking internally. ‘Shit, to think that guy was Cindy’s brother. I was this close to seducing him and getting him in my bed. I hope Cindy doesn’t find out about it.’
Just then, the dworf Cole poked his head into the bridge and announced, “Ladies, we’ve got a request to activate our Transporter. I take it we’re expecting someone?”
“Right!” Cindy exclaimed, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. “We are! It’s my brother, Cody!”
She hurriedly jumped out of her chair and was about to head over when Helen stopped her. “You might want to cover up a bit first.”
“Ah.” Cindy blushed. “Give me five minutes.”
