Chapter 3 by RedMonika
Listen to the judge's sentence.
No, interrupt him and demand trial by combat.
Your bold proclamation masks a trembling fear in your gut knowing you have **** the judge’s decision. Your fate is sealed unless . . .
“Morgan Hamilton . . .” the judge begins as your mind races, “. . . I find you . . .”
Before he can finish you blurt out in a loud voice, “I demand trial by combat!”
A hushed murmur comes across the courtroom as the judge goes silence and looks down at you. “What?” He asks with a displeased frown.
Taking a deep breath you muster all your confidence a clearly state, “As a citizen of the kingdom I have the right to trial by combat. I invoke this privilege to determine my innocence or guilt.”
The murmurs return as the judge ignores the whispers and ponders over you in such a way that gives you concern because you cannot begin to guess what he is thinking. After several long seconds he finally gavels the room to silence while never breaking his icy stare at your comely shape.
“Thief, you are a mere woman; there is no precedent for such a thing.” He finally responds.
Again your ego gets the better of you. “I am the equal of any man.” You brashly assert, “I demand my right to prove my innocence!”
How does the judge respond?
