Chapter 4 by WilltheBoatmaster WilltheBoatmaster

What's next?

It was an experimental blueberry mixture

On the chemical vial was a label that read "experimental blueberry mixture". Cynthia would want to take a closer look, but the vial was rather high up, Cynthia, depsite being 38, only stood at 4'6''.

"Hey, Mr. Ashton!" Cynthia called. "Why's this cabinet not closed? There'd be some dangerous chemicals in here, and any of them spilling is a lawsuit waiting to happen!"

"Oh, those? We've tested them, and they're perfectly safe." Mr. Ashton replied, walking over. "These chemicals are meant to help food production, with the hopes of ending world hunger."

"I see." Cynthia said. "So, that experimental blueberry mixture does what exactly?"

"Ah, it makes blueberries grow much bigger." Mr. Ashton replied. "Very simple, but useful for berry farms. Everything in this cabinet is guaranteed safe for crops."

There was total silence in the lab. Cynthia was stunned, and Mr. Ashton was upset.

"I am so sorry Ms. Thomas!" Mr. Ashton apologized. "You're right! I should have closed that! We can't afford a lawsuit right-"

"Mr. Ashton, this was partly my fault, so you're not being sued." Cynthia replied. "Next time, just make sure your chemicals are properly locked up."

A little while later, Cynthia left Lakewood Chemicals, and went out into the parking lot. She got into the passenger seat of a silver sports car. In the driver seat was her business partner, Dana Willard.

"What happened to you?" Dana asked, noticing the blue smudge on Cynthia's face.

"Accident that was mainly my fault. Spilled liquid, but I was assured it's safe." Cynthia said. "Let's just get back to the office. We've got more businesses to help today."

Dana just shrugged and drove off. However, unknown to either of them, the chemical wasn't meant to be used on a human. So, a change was affecting Cynthia right now. Because now...
