As she left the wreckage of the nautiloid behind, Shadowheart had not been searching for Lae'zel per say. She was really just trying to find some semblance of civilization. Finding the gith had been a secondary, no, tertiary goal! Well, that's what Shadowheart was telling herself, at least.
Regardless of why, the cleric did indeed find her githyanki companion. It would have been hard to miss her, considering she was hanging from a tree in a cage! Shadowheart smirked when she saw the gith in such an obvious trap. For all their bluster, her race was no smarter than the goblins! Still, hearing voices close to the cage, the cleric kept her wits about her as she crept towards the cage.
"Zorru was right," she heard a male voice complain. "Yellow as a toad, and twice as ugly!"
"Say that again, kainyank!" Lae'zel growled, seething with anger. "It'll be the last words your pathetic lips ever utter!"
"The thing is dangerous, Damays!" A female voice shot back, clearly a bit nervous. "Leave it for the goblins to kill."
Staying behind a bush, Shadowheart peered into the clearing. There were two tieflings under the cage, both armed with simple weapons. They were clearly the ones who had set the trap, and clearly conflicted on what to do about what they'd captured.
"I don't know, Nymessa, let's not be too hasty," Damays replied. He looked up, from this angle able to see right up Lae'zel's skirt. "Her face might be a disaster, but she has other... appreciable qualities."
"Oh hells, Damays, don't tell think with your dick right now!" The woman scolded, more annoyed than horrified. "There's a goblin back at camp if you truly need to satisfy yourself. The gith isn't worth it!"
Shadowheart debated what to do. She could try and talk the tieflings into leaving. The girl was clearly leaning that way already. Or she could try and fight them, though the odds would not be in her favor.
Of course, she could also just sit and watch. It looked like things might get interesting, and Lae'zel finally may get what she deserves!
