Extract From The Company Magazine

An extract from the company magazine for May :

'How does Diane keep doing it ? It is a mystery how our head of product development keeps managing to come up with stellar ideas for another morale boosting event every month but she succeeded once again in the merry month of May ! As expected, the spectacle once more featured everyone's favorite I.T. manager Debbi, who herself deserves some respect for her willingness to enter into the spirit of things. But it should always be remembered that none of this would ever happen without the creative genius of Diane and her able assistant Aditty.

This month's event took place outside in the company car park, where a large water tank had been erected and a space kept clear for dancing. This enabled anyone passing in the street or looking out from the neighboring offices to join in the fun, demonstrating Diane's flare for raising awareness in the town of both the company and of our business.

Debbi was led out to be Queen of the May, clad only in a diaphanous white gown. She climbed the steps to the top of the water tank, in which she was to be fully immersed in an ancient purification rite prior to being installed as a symbol of fertility for the coming season. Judging from Debbi's reaction as she emerged dripping and shivering from the tank, it seemed that the water was very cold ! So it was probably just as well that the soaking wet gown was stripped from her body while she was still at the top of the stairs and she was taken naked into the center of the car park where Aditty adorned her with a headdress of wild flowers, another example of Diane's attention to detail and demonstrating the commitment of the company to environmental ideals.

Bells were then strapped to each of Debbi's thighs just above the knee and it was time for the entrance of Diane's other 'coup de theatre', the East Berks Morris Men ! Dressed in full regalia, they proceeded to invite Debbi to be Mistress of the Dance and, to the accompaniment of fiddle and accordion playing old folk melodies, they commenced the traditional dance. Debbi was handed a carved stick to be struck against those of the other dancers at appropriate points in the music. Sadly, she seemed to have little idea of how the dance was supposed to be performed but nevertheless there was much enjoyment of her naked performance and a great deal of merriment on one occasion when her stick was knocked clean out of her grasp and she had to scamper across the car park to bend and retrieve it !

As the dance ended, the Morris Men hoisted their naked queen onto their shoulders and paraded her around the car park and out into the adjacent street, affording numerous photo opportunities for the appreciative crowd that had gathered.
