A growing power

I remember asking to have a more exciting life, but I never expected that I would be in a crazy situation like this, where I need to use this catalyst artifact from Circe to try and control a fucking god.

The plan is really simple: Just wear this golden collar and hold the golden sphere when I give an order to a god or goddess. If the plan goes well, I'll have a fucking god as an ally... But if it fails I'll lose my powers and/or die... As the saying goes, high risk high reward.

Circe cleans herself really fast thanks to a spell, she snaps her fingers, and her green/golden armor appears on her body.

Circe then explains to me "Remember, we need to keep this a secret so the gods still believe that you know nothing; and if you succeed, you need to make sure that the god won't reveal that he or she is working for you; if you manage to control a god to spy on other gods, you could learn ways to make your cosmic energy more powerful."

Damn, she has this whole thing planned out, but... I feel like I need to ask her something.

I ask Circe "Thanks for helping Circe but... Aside from you hating the gods, Why do you want me to get control over them? I know that you're a magic lady but why are you so willing to help me get this power?"

Circe's eyes widen a bit, she takes a moment to think about how to word it correctly as she answers "I... I can't win..."

Wait what?

She continues "I wish that I had your power, I envy how easily you can control me... However, I know I have to help you because if one of the gods gets control of your power... I have no idea what type of unbalance that could cause in the universe and... I'm hoping that by giving you this help and if this plan works... That you would show mercy to a witch like me." Circe's eyes are just staring at the floor.

Damn, it legit feels like she has no other option, could my power really become that dangerous to everyone in the universe?

I answer Circe "Don't worry, I know we just barely know each other and this is crazy, but I don't wanna cause chaos and shit... You helped me, I literally can't do this without your help, and even if I'm able to get control of gods I have no intention of wanting to become a god myself; like I can barely take care of my room, I don't even want to imagine taking care of the universe."

Circe then looks at me with a relieved smile. Circe then walks closer, kisses me, and then she tells me "Thank you, master, I knew that I wasn't wrong about you."

I also smiled, that... Felt quite nice.

Circe followed her promise, after she left, Harley and Poison Ivy returned to normal after Circe's time spell wore off; we continued our conversation as if nothing happened.

I wanted to ask Circe a couple more things but while I was washing myself, she just vanished. I swear, this woman needs to learn how to say goodbye.

Anyway, I later had to go to train at the Watchtower. I used the teleporter that Batman brought to my house, it's a blue machine that on the surface looks like a normal blue rectangular box, but in reality, is an almost indestructible machine that is connected to the Watchtower directly and registers me and my voice.

Batman explained to me how the machine worked as he took me back on his jet. So I just say "Teleport me to the Watchtower" and in the blink of an eye, I get teleported away.

Once in the Watchtower, I go to the training room, and FUCK! I'm sweating more than an orphan having to celebrate Father's Day.

I have to get my body in shape so I can fight better against any danger... I'm used to doing some exercise at home but I know that I have to go further.

After some cardio and lifting some weights, I call Wonder Woman to practice my reflexes in combat.

And it goes as well as you'd expect; I try to land a hit, she blocks it easily, she does a hit without using even a third of her strength, and I lose balance and fall on my ass. But I keep going and going.

Diana notices that I'm weirdly quiet on this training session so she asks me "Is there something bothering you? Am I hitting you too hard?" I then shake my head and answer "No, no, It's just that... I've recently been wondering about 'Why am I the one with this power?'. Like, my life changed so much in a short amount of time, I'm sometimes wondering what's even my purpose."

Diana then gives me a kind and understanding look, she then puts her hand on my shoulder and tells me "Jason, look... I know it's overwhelming, I know the feeling of seeing your whole world change and having to make big changes in your life... We're not able to predict what will happen but remember that you are not only able to control other people, you can take control of your life and grow... Darkness will always try to blind you, that's why your purpose is to shine your light brighter."

DAMN, she's good with motivational speeches.

I then smile and tell her "Thanks Diana... I just wish that things were a bit more clear, but I guess that's just how life is... It's not like someone is gonna appear and answer all my questions..."

But then, after I said that, Diana and I saw a small light appear in front of us. The light looks similar to the one that appeared that day when the purple gem just appeared in front of me.

Diana immediately reacts, positions herself in front of me, and tells me "STAY BEHIND!"

I close my eyes as the light glows brighter, I can barely see but then... it stops.

I open my eyes and see something that I can only describe as some sort of small portal, it looks like a small magical window. But then as I look better at it, I see a face in there. I think... yeah, I see a woman; she's a brunette with light brown hair, a golden armor with white robes underneath it, and a golden helmet covering her head but not her face.

To my surprise, Wonder Woman kneels out of respect for her and says "Goddess Athena... Is there something that I can assist you with?"

My eyes open wide in surprise as I look at both of them and then I ask "Wait... GODDESS!?" I knew Circe said that they would come soon, but I wasn't expecting it to be this quick.
