Chapter 5 by TheFastAndTheCurious TheFastAndTheCurious

How does her first day go?

She learns what the job is

That Saturday, early in the morning, Luna took the bus into the city. The whole way there, Luna was nervous. She didn't know what Emma had told the boss about her. She assumed that, if Emma was recommending it, then she must have set something up. But then again, Luna thought it would be unlikely for a legitimate business to want to get involved in escapades like her's. Those were the stories that lawsuits were born from. At least, that's what Luna told herself as the bus arrived at her stop. From the bus stop she found her way into the address she had been given.

"Well, you're certainly pretty enough," the manager said, looking Luna up and down. "But we're going to have to do something about that outfit."

"What's wrong with my outfit?" Luna asked.

"No offense, but you don't look rich enough to shop here."

That was fair, Luna thought. Her boss lead her into the back to find something to wear.

"Like," Luna said, "I don't want this to sound bad or anything, but my friend is really bad at explaining things and..."

"You feel you don't understand what the job is about, and you want to hear it from me," said the woman. "That's understandable, don't worry."

"Oh thank God," Luna said. "She, um, told me it was a modeling job of sorts."

"That is correct. You see, we don't really need any more hands around the store. We would if we were busier, but we need more customers for that to happen. So we want to drum up some business, and that's your job."

"How am I supposed to do that?" Luna asked.

"We want you to leave and then come back, pretending to be a customer. Look around, try on some clothes, pick something out and 'buy' it from us. We'll bag it for you and you'll bring it around the back and return it."

"I hope you don't mind me saying so, but that's very strange," Luna said.

"It's uncommon, but other companies employed weird methods of getting sales. Have you ever heard about those mattress stores that paid people to sleep in their store and try out their product?"

"I think I have heard about that, but I thought it was a joke."

"It's not," replied the manager. "So we are going to send you out in a nicer outfit so you look nicer, and you'll walk around the block and come back when the store is open. Oh, and remember, look ditzy and pretty."

"Why?" Luna asked.

"Because that's what most of our customers are like. And make sure lots of people see you walking too and from the store, especially when you leave carrying the bag. But never let the same people see you walking into the store twice. They might get suspicious."

"Got it," Luna replied, trying to keep all this information straight in her head.

"Here you go," said the manager, holding out a dress. "Try these on in the changing room. And get used to this, you'll be doing it all day."

Luna locked the door and stripped off all of her clothes. She wasn't given any underwear to wear under the outfit, and she didn't want to ask for any with her propensity to "mark" the pairs that she wears. Fortunately, she did have a bra. So she put on the dress and felt a draft between her legs, but otherwise she looked good in the mirror.

"Wonderful!" said her boss as she stepped out. "You look great."

"What do I do with my clothes?" asked Luna.

"We'll hold onto them for you. Here, let me take those."

Her boss went over the plan once more and just before the store was set to open she took Luna back to the side exit.

Just before the store was set to open, the manager took Luna to the side entrance and went over the plan once more.

"Now," she said. "I'm going to go back to my job running the store. Everyone here knows who you are, so don't worry about getting in trouble. But from this point onwards we will act like you are any other customer."

She handed Luna a purse.

"Here is your purse, it contains a credit card. Obviously it doesn't really work, but it will allow you to borrow the clothes and come back with them, but to everyone else it will look like you are buying them. Any questions?"

Luna shook her head.

"Alright then, wait until the store opens and listen for the door to ding. That means the first customer has shown up and we're in business. Leave and walk around for a bit and then come back. We'll be waiting for you."

And with that, the woman left Luna by the side exit.

Luna exhaled. She was nervous, even though all he had to do was to buy clothes all day, in theory. She checked the purse and found the card. Then she waited.

How does it go?
