Chapter 6 by TheFastAndTheCurious TheFastAndTheCurious

How does it go?

It goes surprisingly well

After standing for a few minutes, Luna sat down on the edge of a nearby table, trying not to let the hem of the dress ride up. After waiting for even longer without anyone coming back to check on her, she started to worry that she was doing something wrong. Perhaps she was supposed to have left by now anyways? But her anxiety was alleviated when she heard that ding of the front door. She stood up, straightened out her dress, and walked out the door.

Walking down the street, Luna felt an immediate nervousness, but it gradually turned into confidence. She had never had clothes like this in her entire life. She felt popular, and rich. She held her head high as her walk turned into the strut. She walked around for a few minutes, looking like she was going somewhere but not in any hurry, and then circled around to the store.

That nervousness appeared again, this time in the form of a knot in her stomach, as she opened the door and walked inside. She hesitated for a moment, but then took a deep breath and walked around, trying to stay in character. She looked around and tried to decide on an outfit to "buy." After finally picking out a dress she liked, she went to the changing room. She peeled off the dress she was wearing and looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing only her bra and socks. She tried on the new outfit and, after being satisfied with how it fit, she changed back into her dress and went to the counter.

True to the manager's word, none of the employees treated her as anything other than an ordinary customer. The woman at the counter didn't bat an eye as Luna handed over the items to scan and then her special credit card. The woman swiped the card and the computer made an error sound, but then she swiped it again and it registered.

"Sorry," the cashier said, "too fast. Bad read."

Luna just smiled and nodded politely in return, but couldn't hide the nervousness in her face. The woman seemed to take notice of this and, after briefly glancing around and over her shoulder, she looked Luna in the eye and winked, letting her know everything was fine.

Feeling better, Luna walked out, bag in hand. Once more she strutted around on the sidewalk, occasionally attracting looks at her outfit and swagger. She made her way back to the store and entered through the backdoor. She sat down for a few minutes, resting her feet. Then there was a knock at the door. The for opened and it was the manager.

"Hi," she said, formally. "How's it going? Everything work out alright?"

"Yeah, everything's fine," Luna replied.

"Good."

That was all her boss said before she walked away and closed the door behind her. Lunar noticed she looked busy, but thought it was kind of her boss to check on her.

After more time had passed, and the door had dinged several more times, Luna assumed that there must be a new crowd of people by now. She stood up once more and walked out again, this time more confident. Part of her had worried that Emma had set her up when she got her this job. But there were no setups here. At least, none so far.
