Chapter 3 by Stormdragon19 Stormdragon19

But Who Are You?

Alex (OC), a new mage from Fiore (Fairy Tail)

"So, how much is this?" Alex addressed the shopkeep, putting a large pile of stuff from the bargain bin onto the counter. He didn't have much experience with magic (heck, he'd only found out from a doctor's visit last week) but he could tell this stuff was magic, so it was a good place to start.

"25,000 Jewels."

"... beg pardon?"

"25,000, like I said."

"From the bargain bin?!"

"You almost emptied it, sir. put some stuff back and I'll lower the price accordingly."

Sighing, Alex scooped up the pile again and started putting stuff back. Looking it over, a lot of the stuff were things he was already familiar with - mostly knick knacks. A light pen, a magic nightlight. On one hand, such a high price seemed almost offensive for most of this. On the other hand, he hadn't actually looked through the things before grabbing him. He only had the pen he'd gotten as an heirloom and figured out basic requip magic to hold it in. Looking over the stuff, nothing here actually looked like it would be worth buying...

"Nikolai!"

The sudden cry caused Alex to jump, swiveling his head to find the source of the voice... and find a very cute blonde looking over one of those celestial spirit keys. Getting curious, Alex looked her over while she tried negotiating the price of the key. She was pretty sweet, and had amazing curves... But he stopped himself from staring when she tried putting out a bit of sex appeal. It was rude to stare, after all-

"19,000."

An audible snap from Alex's neck caught their attention as he turned in utter disbelief at the 1000 Jewel discount. "Are you crazy!? This lady's at least worth an 8,000 jewel discount!"

"I still can't believe you did that!" The hot blonde said, still chuckling at how things played out. Alex had actually ended up paying the 8000 to help her buy the key, and now was a bit of a blushing mess walking along side her.

"Still, thanks for helping pay for it. I'm Lucy. What's your name?" She asked while extending a hand.

"Uhhh... Alex. Alex Cross." He said, shaking it sheepishly. He wanted to make a good impression, even after embaressing himself like that.

"Nice to meet you Alex. As thanks for the ring, would you like to get a friendly lunc-" she was interruped as the two of them were bowled over by a few woman running past them. "SALAMANDER'S IN TOWN!"

"You mean the famous Fairy tail mage?" Alex said, Lucy echoing his enthusiasm. "Let's go check him out!" The two started running after the girls, and ran into a good looking green haired man.

So this was a Fairy tail mage... good looking, suave, very attractive given all the ladies around hi-

"Igneel!"

The sudden shout attracted everyone's attention to a boy with pink hair and a scarf on his hands. Given the state of the crown behind him, he had shoved his way through. This was definitely not taken well, as most of the girls beat him up and chucked him away.

"Apologies, but I have business at the docks." Salamander said, a plume of violet flame popping up beneath him. "We'll be holding a party this evening, hope to see you ladies there!"

Okay, this man might have been a jackass.

"Thanks for the help." Lucy's comment to the new guy got Alex's brain going. She looked at both of us. "Can I get you guys lunch?"

A few minutes into the meal, and Alex was speechless. He'd never seen a guy and a talking cat scarfing down food like they hadn't eaten in days.

"Thanks for helping me out back there." Lucy said, looking awkward at them as they ate. "If you hadn't snapped me out of it back there, I would have kept falling for his Charm Magic."

"Scummy thing to do." Alex nodded, not bringing up he'd been a bit starstruck. "So, what kind of mages are you?" Lucy looked surprised as she turned to look at him, only to be met with a shrug. "I may be a bit awkward at times, but I apparently always had a good magic sense. And I am sensing some energy from all three of you."

"Well, I'm a Celestial Spirit mage, but I think you already knew that." Lucy grins as she shows off her keys. "How about you?"

"Well..." Alex scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "I hadn't really figured that out yet. I know Requip on a basic level, but the only real tool I have is this." He holds up his hand and pulls out what seems to be a very old wooden pen. "I got this from inheritance the other day, and I know it's magic, but I still have no idea how to use it. All I've done so far is write ny name on my stuff with it." He added, sheepishly as he put his hand to his side, right next to Lucy. "And you two?" He turns his attention to the blue talking cat and pink haired mage across from them.

"I'm a Fire Mage." The one with the scarf said, having managed to empty his mouth right before stuffing it again.

"Awye! Awnd Igl fglyw!" Chimed in the cat. "This is Natsu, and I'm Happy!" He said as he finished stuffing the entire fish in his mouth.

"Good to hear you're doing well." I nodded to the cat.

"No, I meant that's my name." Happy corrected him.

"O-oh, I see... sorry." Alex said, trying to search for a topic to avoid the awkward situation. "Anyway, how about that Salamander jerk from earlier, right? How could a mage from Fairy Tail go around using Charm magic, right?"

The table went dead silent as the three of them opened their mouths at me.

"He's a mage from Fairy tail!?" Was Lucy's cries of disbelief.

"No he wasn't!" Came Natsu's reply, with an 'Aye!' from Happy.

"Really? I thought Salamander was a Fairy Tail mage..." I responded sheepishly.

"I am, but that's not me!" After a pair of wide eyed looks from the two who paid for the meal, he showed of his shoulder, while Happy moved his little backpack to the side. Both were showing a guild mark. "We're Fairy Tail mages, and we definitely wouldn't let someone like that in the guild!"

"Aye! And Salamander's just a nickname people gave Natsu!" Happy chimed in.

"...oh crap." Alex replied. "If he's posing as you with Charm magic, he can only be up to something really bad."

"Right! And we're going to stop him!" Natsu declared as he stood up.

"Let us help!" Lucy said, standing as well. I followed suit, adding an emphatic "Absolutely! We know he'll be at the port this evening, so why don't we kick his ass then?"

"Sounds like a plan." Lucy said as she looked at the two humans. The cat, however, was looking at Lucy's left thigh.

"I didn't realize Alex owned you, Lucy."

...what?

What?
