The I.T. Manager's New Clothes

Debbi was standing nervously back stage as the murmur of voices grew louder and reception filled up. She knew that most of the company would be gathering out there, eager to see the show and with a pretty clear idea of what it might entail. Worse still it now seemed that the graduate party she had been presenting to on the company's behalf that morning, would also be getting a ringside seat. She heard music start up and the murmurs turned to giggles. Stew had found from somewhere a purely instrumental version of the children's ditty that told the story of Hans Christian Anderson's tale. This played for a couple of minutes and then Debbi heard Diane's voice begin her introduction. "Get ready for your first cue" Aditty hissed into Debbi's ear.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen. The company is extremely proud and gratified to be hosting this launch of Titiana Bareskinski's new spring and autumn range for the successful business woman. You will all be aware of Ms. Bareskinski's international renown and it is quite a coup for us. She could easily have recruited a team of expensive supermodels but instead, Ms. Bareskinski wanted to show how suited her new range of clothes would be for the ordinary business woman going about her daily tasks and so, to illustrate that, she has enlisted the services of our very own I.T. manager Debbi to model the range for us !"

Diane's introduction elicited a mix of laughter and cheers from the staff, who had all been present for the morale building events earlier in the year and so had a good idea of what to expect. The six graduates that Debbi had been introducing to the company were more confused. "That's the woman who's showing us round isn't it ?" wondered Harriet, the quieter of the two females in the group. "Sure is" confirmed Elizabeth, the one who had been asking the awkward questions.

"And so our collection will begin with essential day wear for the busy and ambitious young executive" Diane continued. Debbi knew this was her first cue and did not need the shove in the back by way of encouragement from Aditty. She stepped out boldly naked onto the stage. If she was going to go through with it, and she had run out of time and arguments with Jeff, then she was going to try and own the moment. But, oh god, it was embarrassing.

Even though most of the audience had been kind of expecting it, there were still some shocked gasps when Debbi appeared, though these soon evolved into happy laughter and encouraging catcalls. "Debbi is wearing a stylish but practical two piece business suit with matching blouse and tights and sensible shoes. Ideal for a long day in the office and for those all important business meetings but embellished by Ms Bareskinski's trade mark touches on the collar and trim" Diane droned on. Whereas of course, everyone could see that Debbi was wearing nothing whatsoever apart from a pair of very high heeled shoes that accentuated the shape and contours of her legs as she walked.

As they had rehearsed, Debbi stopped and posed in all her naked glory at the front of the stage for what to her seemed an interminably long count of three. She was right in front of the six graduates. "Wow !" was all that one of the boys could say. "Good grief...I don't believe it...you can see...er, well, I mean....you can see..." Harriet was almost speechless. "Everything !" Elizabeth delightedly finished Harriet's statement for her. She took out her phone as Debbi moved to the sides of the stage to pose and show off the 'outfit' as instructed, before heading back stage again to 'change'.

"What are you doing ? You can't take photos" said Harriet. "Who said I can't ?" Elizabeth retorted. "Look at all these others getting their phones out. And look what is says on this leaflet, it's encouraging people to take photos and recordings and giving them permission to do whatever they want with them. This'll be social media gold !"

"But that's not fair on her" Harriet argued. "Who cares ? Anyway, she needs taking down a peg or two after that superior attitude she displayed to us all morning" Elizabeth replied. "I thought she was nice" one of the boys ventured. "Oh, you boys are so easy. All she had to do was flash a pretty smile and you were putty in her hands." It was clear that Elizabeth was a little jealous. "Well, she's flashing rather more than a smile now" laughed another as the boys, as Debbi emerged 'modelling' the second outfit and he in turn took out his phone !
