"Come on now."

He follows the Asian woman to a large office. It had a lot of furniture and a huge bookshelf filled with a bunch of trophies, whatnots, and other sentiments things. A big glass window behind the desk that has a great view of the city. He can see the whole town. He couldn't believe all of the buildings standing tall as it could make anyone stand still for a few moments.

Asa says, "Go ahead, the boss will see you soon." and goes back to the front desk. He watch her leave, happily imagining what that skirt hide from his eyes.

He sits down and waits. After a couple of minutes, the door opens, and a dark-skinned man comes in. The black man wears a three-piece suit and has a thick, muscular build. His voice is deep, and he sounds confident. "Welcome, kid. My name is Mr. Jaccon."

"Nice to meet you." he stands up and shakes the black man's hand. "I'm here for the internship position. You might not have a lot of faith in me but I assure you, I'll be the best hire you ever make."

Mr. Jaccon nods and says, "I like your spunk kid. But that is not what interns do around here. They obey the higher-up commands and do errands. I see your resume and it's not impressive at all. You have nothing special about you. But I can tell you're determined and want to do your best. You can't just apply for a job and think you deserve everything handed to you. Your privilege will only carry you so far in life. That's not how this works. But if you show me your worth, you'll get a better position over time."

"How will I show you my worth?" he wondered what was going to be expected of him.

Mr. Jaccon takes out a long list of duties to do. Get the men in the office huge cups of coffee, bagels, and pastries. Then John see other things he'll have to do. The list seems endless. It was the usual intern duties. But Mr. Jaccon says, "This isn't too much work for you, is it? It would be a shame if I had to hire someone else. Maybe I'll get one of the women to supply us with one of their daughters to be our intern."

He thought about his stepsister working in this toxic male environment. He's the only that can toxic to his little stepsis.

John thought the job over as this isn't that bad compared to others out there. It could lead to an actual job with an actual salary. Seeing his stepmom every day wasn't that bad either. But this man is trying to intimidate him. To make him look like an idiot, to show how little he is to him. He didn't know how to counter this. Mr. Jaccon almost like an equal to John.
