let's get into the grind mentality bro

AN: Took to long to draw the previous GUI in text, and i cant be bothered to make images, so I'm gonna be taking a little artistic licence and just describing in text what the display communicates. If you want me to make a GUI, leave a comment

First order of business: check out the magical tablet of wonders. Immediate observation, the tablet is a bit too tall for me to use it confortable, given I'm 1,60m in my tip toes. Note to self: get a fucking chair. the main hub had notifications for all the new stuff. [ Quests and Jobs(2) ], [ 50g | Logan | Logout] Curious about the quests and wanting to unlock everything as soon as posible, i clicked on "Quests and Jobs". The view consisted of two side-by-side lists. Quests on the left and Jobs on the right. only the first of each list was visible, the rest all consisted of greyed out "???" items.

The first available Job was:

Morning Wood

As you might have realized, you are currently surrounded by trees. We are offering to buy wood from those trees by the bulk.
Be careful though! The space of the island is finite, and so then are the trees themselves. Make sure to reforest, if the density of the forest drops too much, so do your profits, exponentially. Properly dried wood is paid more, but keep in mind that a tree might take various months to dry.

I press the [ Accept ] button on the row, and it changes to 2 other buttons: [ Detect ] and [ Pause ]

Reforesting? good to know omnipresent deities are worried about the environment. Strange that the entry doesn't specify the amount paid for the wood. Is it a fluctuating market?

Next, the Quest:

Baby's First Trading Company

Hire 10 workers

Rewards: unlocks a new option in the main menu. and idk, 100 gold? is that too much?

I quickly accept the quest, and go to the workers menu. Same as the previous menu, i have a list with only one option available:

Brown Minion

there was no information on the row, but when i pressed it a window popped up that showed a 3D model of a .... creature? looked like a goblin , but with brown skin, long pointy ears, and a demon tail. There was an info section:

The brown minion is the most of basic units. With very limited intellect, and small size, they are not able to do very much at the start, but are able to learn, so the more they work, the better they do. Minions can only be assigned at one job at a time, and if they change jobs, they start to forget about the previous one, so they can only specialize about one thing. They don't need to eat, but work better when they do.

30g? that was cheap. It gave me an idea. I quickly back, and checked out the shop. This time, there wasn't a paragraph of introduction, thank god. Or gods? They used the plural we, i don't mind. The shop really had _everything. _There were ingredients for cooking, cookware, tables, chairs, ****, a washing machine? i don't even have electricity here. I scrolled a while, and found that the so called magic section was all greyed out and censored still. Damn. Checking the prices, it was a really weird spread. 2g for like 1kg of raw potatoes? That's not that bad... 10g for a beer? go fuck yourselves.

After checking that the prices of the shop weren't that crazy, i came back to my idea, went back to the brown minion screen and pressed the big "Hire" button.

Immediately, the first thing i noticed was that the price went up to 35g. Oh well, its not that much more, just a 15% for now. Next though, was a bright column of light right next to the screen, and one of the bat-looking creatures materialized. They were shorter than expected, a little more than 50cm tall.

It looked at me, bowed profoundly and said "Hello, masssssterrr". It had a weird, high-pitched, gravelly voice, and it extended various syllables while talking. That was gonna get old quickly. With no time to loose, i called

"ehm... Go chop some wood....?" It bowed again, pulled a small axe from ... somewhere? and said "Yes, master" and ran off the the line of the trees, and started chopping at a tree. That was quick, great. On the mean time, i searched some more in the shop, found a couple of granola bars, and a couple of apples for 10g. I kept looking and i found a big canteen for my remaining 10g. That was a little expensive, but useful. I could fill it up at the stream. Want for something to do, i decided to do just that. I trekked back to were i found the stream from the mountains, and filled up the container as much as i could, and went back to the, i guess now, main camp next to the terminal. In the approximately 20 minutes it took me to walk to and from the water source, the minion had started a small, neat pile of logs in the clearing, and was promptly going at it with another tree. That was good, i thought it was gonna go way slower. Maybe it will tire out?. I went up to the screen and opened the jobs screen. There, i tried the "detect" button. Another column of light, and the pile of logs disappeared.
