I tossed the dossier back into the table. It disappeared among hundreds of other documents. As I suspected, the case was shaping up to be nothing but a wild goose chase…

“Hey, boss! Did you see what happened last night with Rebecca Zhang?” Annie ran into the room, the bangs of her crimson hair swinging left and right across her eyes like wind wipers. That much urgency ill-befitted such an unrelated question, but still, I could use a gossip break to clear my head.

“Oh yeah, crazy huh? I guess stress can make you lose your marbles. Do you think they will fire her?”

“No, I heard they are thinking about giving her a new show. Something called the Naked Truth, with naked interviews about touchy subjects?”

“Sounds stupid.”
