Shaking away such perverse feelings, Shadowheart scrambled to her feet. Puffing out her chest, and speaking with as much strength as she could muster, she scoffed. "In your dreams, gith! Now let's get out of here and end this 'partnership' as soon as possible!"
"Yes, let's," the warrior growled, turning down the hall.
Shadowheart had to once again **** herself to avert her eyes, lest they fall upon her partner's ass. Why were her thoughts so clouded with... with need! Especially for a disgusting green savage like Lae'zel! Shar had taught her about the gith. She had seen their barbarism first hand. If Lae'zel knew what artifact the half-elf was carrying, she'd not think twice before running her through.
So why did her heart flutter whenever the gith was near!?
It took a while to reach the helm. They had to navigate a maze of rooms and hallways. Lae'zel had been tempted to slay the intellect devourers wandering about, until Shadowheart pointed out that they were harmless. For whatever reason, the critters would not touch them. Strange...
After another room full of pods, the two women finally entered the helm... and saw the battle taking place there. Mind flayers and demons, locked in a vicious battle. They watched as a devil had their brain consumed by a mind flayer, only for that same mind flayer to be ripped to shreds by a cloud of imps. It was horrifyingly bloody!
One of the illithids, the same one who had infected them, was soon the last one standing. Reaching out, he connected with women's minds, his voice echoing inside their skulls.
"Thrall. Connect the nerves of the transponder. We must escape. Now."
Instinctively, Shadowheart knew what he was referring to. A brain-like device that could get them out of Avernus! It was across the room, on the other side of the infernal battle.
"We must do it!" Lae'zel stated plainly, drawing her sword. "We will deal with the _ghaik _after we escape!"
Shadowheart nodded in agreement, drawing divine power to her finger tips. Getting out of Avernus was the priority... if they could even do that!
