A prodding finger searched from one place to the next over her own torso. Standing in her underwear before the full-length mirror in her room, Stelle set a finger pad to her body, rolled it around in search of any discrepancy, then moved on to another spot when nothing stood out.

'Cancer of All Worlds’… It would be too convenient if it at least had the physical attributes of a tumor, huh?

It did not help that she had no reference for herself in the absence of the Stellaron. What does a star know of its life as a molecular cloud? So too could she only wonder what she was like before her rebirth on Herta Space Station.

Stelle chuckled. Probably wasn’t batting galactic monstrosities into oblivion. The smile ebbed from her face as she remembered Kafka gazing down at her. If she were to be frank, it was less than comforting to have been in the possession of the Stellaron Hunters before her awakening, knowing what she did about them now. The thought of being accessory to their… checkered past had kept Stelle awake more than once. She knew there was more to them than the wanted posters would have one believe. And yet... their hands were not clean.

Are mine?

Stelle balled a fist. It did not matter. Without any memory or continuity of conscience, she could not be held responsible any more so than anyone else in the universe. What did matter was that since then she had earnestly and effectively acted for the betterment of all things.

Was this penance? Preemptive counterweight to any wrongs that may come to light?

No. Stelle was resolute in this. Whether her past life had been spent razing worlds, curing plagues, or doing nothing at all; this was what she wanted. She could not think of anything more fulfilling than aiding the destitute, combatting the wicked, and making friends and love along the way.

Erm, that is: making friends and spreading love. The grin returned to her. Though admittedly, there was lovemaking too. At times, it could even be as gratifying as the rest of the Trailblaze…
