The Mad Hatter

Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter, was dying. A terminal case of cancer which would kill him in time. But he didn't want to die and be forgotten, he wanted to leave a legacy. One last device would insure that this would happen.

It was, as one could expect, a hat. Yet, not an ordinary hat. The hat had the ability to grant the first wearer, and them only, the knowledge of all of Jervis' knowledge of machines, hypnosis and his other specialties. Even enhancing the intellect of the wearer... but all at a price since the hat would cause any sane mind a hit of madness. No good having a new hatter unless they were mad in some way.

And so Jarvis placed the hat in the box, and gifted wrapped it for the New Hatter whatever form would they take...
