New Possibilities

After dealing with the mess, Makoto got out in the hallway, apparently, while he was with Celeste, the others discovered that the first floor had been unlocked and some of them had gone up to inspect there.

Makoto had just completed Celeste’s action, so he had some time to himself, so he decided to check out the first floor too. Although he did discover some interesting things there like a pool and a library, he suddenly remembered about the boxes Monokuma had told him about. “Huh, I wonder what I’ll get if I unlock these?’”, Makoto thought. He decided that he should unlock one of these to check it out, maybe it’ll help him out in extending the game and making everyone escape. He decided to search for monocoins, it’ll be a good incentive for him to search this floor thoroughly. He thought of starting from the library, but people like Byakuya had already made themselves comfortable there, and he also saw that Taka and some of the others were in the archives. So, he decided to start his search in the swimming pool.

He went there to discover that Hina was already there, in her swimming attire, making laps around the pool. Makoto had never seen her happier. She really was in her element. “Hello Makoto”, Makoto jumped up when suddenly someone called his name, he turned around to discover Kyoko standing right behind him.

“H-Hey, Kyoko”, he said startled. “Makoto, I have brought this cup of soda for you and I also have attempted a full-search of one of the classrooms”, Kyoko suddenly said as she handed him the cup. If Makoto did not know any better, he would assume that she was trying to impress him, like a teacher’s pet. Makoto could easily tell that she was way smarter than him and had more deductive skills so he had to thank the trigger, cause at least she was talking to him more.

“Thanks Kyoko, I was thinking of searching around the pool area myself actually”, Makoto replied. “I shall assist you then”, Kyoko said almost immediately, “You must have deducted that it was strange that a place of enjoyment such as a pool was given to all the kidnappees when their primary objective was to make us kill each other, You truly are amazing at these kinds of things”.

Makoto brain took some time to register what Kyoko just said. She made him sound like he was a genius at work. “How should I tell her that I needed a place to start and I randomly picked the pool?”, Makoto thought with sweat coming out of him.

“Anyways, we should begin searching”, Makoto urged Kyoko. “Yes at once”, Kyoko agreed as she dashed off ahead to search. Makoto meanwhile could not rack his brain around what to do first. “Hey Makoto”, a much more cheerful voice greeted him, he turned to see that it was Aoi, “Want to take a swim?”. “N-No, its okay”, Makoto replied awkwardly, “I’m not even in my proper swimming attire”. “Oh, that’s a shame, but come and swim once in a while, you’ll see it really lifts your spirit”, Hina said in an unusually serious tone. “Sure, I’ll definitely do that”, Makoto replied and then his eyes spotted something shiny at the bottom of the pool. After inspecting for a bit, he was sure that he could see Monokuma’s face on it. “This has to be one of the monocoins”, Makoto deduced.

“Hey Hina, can you do me a favour? Can you please give me that shining thing from the bottom of the pool”, Makoto asked innocently. “Yeah sure”, Hina said super energetically. She swam to the bottom and picked it up, and handed it over to him. “Thanks a lot, Hina”, Makoto said gratefully. “No problem, Makoto, but what is that?”, Hina asked getting curious.

Before Makoto could answer, he heard a small ‘ding’ come out of his student handbook. He secretly opened it to see that it automatically showed the boxes which could be accessed via the Monokuma icon and it scrolled down to a box which was now unlocked.

Makoto saw something written in there. “Love Suite Trigger: Once per day, If you give a gift to any girl, they’ll meet you at night for an ‘event’ in your room, in which you get to modify their personality for them to be your ‘ideal’ for the rest of that night, after which they will go back to their room and will forget that!”.

“Huh”, Makoto was a bit confused as he read this. It was clear to him that he would not be able to fully understand what this entailed is if he actually tested this out.

“Uh…is everything all right, Makoto, you’ve been staring at your handbook for quite a while?”, Aoi asked, snapping him out. “Oh uh…y-yeah, I uh…was kinda curious about this n-new rule Monokuma added”, Makoto managed to form his sentence. To his luck, Makoto had seen earlier that Monokuma had added a new rule which forbade students to steal each other’s handbooks, so he quickly went over to the rules section of his handbook and showed that to Hina.

“Oh, I wonder why, this new rule was suddenly added”, Hina wondered. “Probably because of the changing rooms”, Kyoko’s voice came suddenly from behind Makoto, “The only things that our handbooks impact on this floor, is which changing room we are allowed to enter based on our gender, so most likely this rule as given to us now so that no girls can enter the boys changing room and vice-versa”. Makoto had to agree that this made sense and that she may have deduced the actual reason for this rule.

“Wow Kyoko, you’re really smart”, Hina cheered from the side as she climbed up from the pool and went over to some benches on the side, where her bag was kept containing her bottle and some donuts (of course). Even though Makoto was sure Kyoko heard that, Makoto could still see Kyoko staring at him, probably wanting praise for her efforts. “Y-Yeah Kyoko great job. Really proud of you”, Makoto blurted out. A smile appeared on Kyoko’s face and she said with unusual excitement in her voice, “Thank you Makoto, I hope I will continue to impress you, and I hope that you will continue providing me your tutorage”. “Y-yeah, of course”, was all that Makoto could reply. Makoto was very glad that Hina was off on the side and did not hear their conversation cause she would definitely not find it normal and suspect something.

Makoto for now was still curious about the love suite trigger and thought that he should test it out tonight to see how it worked. But before he could reach nighttime, he still had to complete an action to unlock a trigger for another girl cause his 12 hour time limit would run out before it reached nighttime. “Okay, gotta unlock another trigger first before I can discover what this love suite is all about”, Makoto thought. So with that in mind, Makoto began to think, which girl should he go after next.
