What's next?

The Party

Jace shook off the reminiscing he’d been doing, and looked back at Victoria.

“You’re coming to the party right?” Jace asked.

“What party?” Victoria frowned in confusion.

“Oh, you really are new, huh?” Jace grinned, and Victoria nodded.

“Right, so we have this tradition here, that the night before the school year starts, we throw this thing we call the Moving Party.” Jace explained. “Everyone comes down and we just hang out and relax a bit before school starts tomorrow.”

“Why is it called the moving party?” Victoria asked.

“Because it happens on Moving Day? I dunno, that’s just what we call it. It’s been around for decades.” Jace shrugged.

“I don’t know about going to a party.” Victoria shook her head uncertainly. Jace looked at the gorgeous blonde incredulously.

“C’mon, Victoria. You’re a part of the school now, that means you need to participate in our traditions.” Jace said, and Victoria looked at him for a long time before signing.

“Fine. But I’m probably not going to stay the whole time. What time is the party?” Victoria asked.

“Starts in about twenty minutes.” Jace answered, and Victoria’s eyes widened.

“Oh, I thought it would be later.” she said in surprise.

“Nah, we’ve got school tomorrow. If we all showed up exhausted because of the party, the school would probably ban them.” Jace shrugged. “I’ve gotta pick up my friends, and then the four of us can walk over there.”

“Right. OK.” Victoria said, and with a longing look over her shoulder, she stepped out into the hall with Jace. Jace smiled and led her back down the hall towards the staircase, stopping about halfway to knock on a door.

The door opened to reveal Chloe and Amy, both already ready for the party. Chloe wore a white tank top and some light blue jean shorts, while Amy was in a simple, short green sundress that showed off quite a bit of cleavage.

"Hey, Jace." Chloe smiled at Jace as Amy darted forwards to wrap her arms around Jace in a hug. Jace put a hand on the small of his shorter best friend's back, squeezing her one handed.

"Ames, we saw each other yesterday." Jace chuckled.

"And?" she challenged, raising her eyebrows at him.

"And nothing." Jace smiled. "Oh! Guys, this is Victoria..."

"Walker." Victoria supplied, and Jace nodded. He was pretty sure she had told him that, but he'd forgotten what it was.

"Are you new?" Chloe asked Victoria. "I thought I knew all the senior girls."

"Yeah, I'm new. I... I actually came from Hilltop, believe it or not." Victoria chuckled weakly, and Jace thought that she looked slightly worried.

"Oh, cool!" Amy exclaimed. Chloe looked a little more skeptical, but she nodded. Probably sports rivalry, Jace guessed.

“So, you guys ready for the party?” Jace asked.

“Yup!” Amy chirped, and Chloe laughed. “Yeah, we’re ready.”

“I guess.” Victoria mumbled, and Jace nodded at his three lady companions.

“Then let’s get going.”

———

The party had begun by time the quartet made it to the warehouse turned party hotspot. Loud music blasted from stereos, people were shouting and laughing and dancing, and the lights were dim with a reddish hue.

“Oh, this doesn’t seem like my kind of party.” Victoria fussed from beside Jace, and he looked over at the green-eyed blonde.

“Too late now, you already committed.” Jace grinned at her.

“Jace, this does not look like fun.” Victoria folded her arms.

“Nah, it’ll be fun. Come on, give it at least an hour.” Jace urged, and she sighed.

“Fine.” she rolled her emerald green eyes.

“Oh, it’s Iona!” Chloe exclaimed, and she grabbed Amy’s hand, dragging her best friend off to go see one of her soccer teammates.

“What do you even do at parties like this?” Victoria looked around disdainfully.

“Well, you could talk to people, you could dance, you could drink-” Jace started listing things off on his fingers, but Victoria interjected.

“I don’t drink.” she shook her head.

“Ok, so no drinking for you.” Jace nodded. “Chloe doesn’t drink either.”

“I don’t think Chloe likes me.” Victoria admitted.

“My guess is that it’s more of a school rivalry thing than anything against you.” Jace said, and he tipped his head towards the party. “Let’s stop standing here and have some fun.”

Victoria groaned in protest, but Jace started walking to the heart of the party, and Victoria reluctantly followed. One hour. She could do one hour.

Jace spotted a familiar face chattering loudly, and Jace grinned. He started making his way to the familiar face, but people started bustling in front of him and behind him.

“Jace!” he heard Victoria grunt from behind him as she tried to push past the throng of people. Jace turned around and reached out to grab her forearm. He tugged her through, holding up a hand of apology to the person he’d yanked her past. Victoria’s arm slipped down so he was grasping her hand, and the pair muscled their way through the crowd to where Scotty was chatting up some girls.

Jace recognized one of them as their friend Nellie Moore and the other girl was Lila Smith. Nellie was a gorgeous blonde with large breasts, dirty blonde hair, and some striking blue eyes. Her ass was on the smaller side, but Nellie had some killer curves.

Beside Nellie was Lila, who had light brown hair, hazel eyes, a nice pair of medium to large breasts just a bit smaller than Nellie’s, along with a round bubble butt that Jace couldn’t resist pinching as he walked up. Lila turned around in surprise, before grinning when she saw it was Jace.

“Hey, stranger.” Lila laughed, throwing her arms around him in a hug, one he squeezed her back tightly in, enjoying her familiar breasts pressing against his chest.

Jace and Lila had had a lot of fun together recently, and he very much enjoyed her. Jace looked over at Nellie, but Nellie was sizing up Victoria, and Jace saw his country friend was definitely checking out Victoria’s insanely curvy and round ass. Nellie had always been a bit touchy about girls with great asses, and it didn’t get much better than Victoria’s.

“Dude! You’re killing my game. I had this one.” Scotty complained. Nellie snorted.

“Scotty, you did not have this one. We’ve fucked before, buddy, but you’re off your game tonight.” Nellie chuckled, patting her friend on the arm. Lila giggled.

Scotty shook his head. “It’s Tanya. I’m drained. I’m running on empty!”

“Don’t worry, you’ll bounce back.” Nellie soothed him, laughing.

“I can’t wait that long. It’s a party! I need more electrolytes.” Scotty said, but Jace clapped his shoulder, laughing.

“Well, you’ll have to find some different girls. Nellie and I are both here for Jace tonight.” Lila fluttered her eyes at Jace, who grinned.

“Whoa there. I didn’t say nothing about that. I have plenty more going on than Jace.” Nellie held up her hands, smirking at Jace, which made him chuckle. It was true, Nellie definitely didn’t need him. She was quite a popular girl.

“Hey, who’s this?” Scotty asked incredulously, looking at Victoria, who rubbed her arm self-consciously.

“This is Victoria. She’s new here.” Jace supplied, giving his friend a knowing warning look.

“I just transferred from Hilltop.” Victoria explained.

“Oh, welcome!” Lila enthused. “What brought you over?”

“I got a scholarship.” Victoria shrugged. “I wasn’t sure about coming here, but my parents thought it’d be a good opportunity.”

“Oh, it will be.” Scotty nodded a little too quickly. “Lots to do here at Riverside. Plenty of people to meet, lots of great classes, great teachers, great guys, great extracurriculars.

“What was that last one, Scotty?” Nellie asked innocently.

“Extracurriculars.” Scotty said, giving Nellie a look, which made Nellie laugh, a laugh rich with country twang.

“Uh huh, good luck with that, hon.” Nellie said, exaggeratedly country and she clapped Scotty on the shoulder as she walked up to Jace.

“Dance with me?” Nellie asked, but it was less of a question and more of a helpful heads up, as she put her hands on his chest and pushed him backwards towards the dance floor. Lila hastily came up to join Nellie in pushing Jace backwards.

“Oh, come on, you’re leaving Victoria alone with Scotty?” Jace complained.

“She looks like a tough girl, she can handle herself.” Nellie scoffed.

“Yeah, but Scotty might get himself slapped. He’s good at talking to girls, but I don’t think Victoria would like him much.” Jace grinned, and both girls laughed.

“Very true.” Nellie said, slipping an arm around Jace’s neck as she began to swing her hips in time to the music. Lila, not to be outdone, turned around to start rubbing her ass against his hips.

“Damn, girls.” Jace said, a big shit-eating grin on his face at the two hot girls dancing with him.

“Like that?” Lila asked eagerly, and Jace nodded.

“Two can play at that game, sugar.” Nellie smirked, and Jace grinned. He loved when she exaggerated the accent, coming up with her country bumpkin nicknames.

Nellie pushed her tits into Jace’s side, his arm slipping around the curvaceous blonde as his other arm came to wrap around the eager brunette’s waist.

Nellie slipped around to behind Jace, hooking an arm around his neck, nipping at his ear as she pushed those amazing tits into Jace’s back while Lila scooted over, having more space to grind back against Jace now. Jace put his hands on Lila’s hips, leaning back into Nellie, a big smile on his face.

“Really?” Zack asked, dancing his way towards them with AC. Zack and one of his sexy best friends sure seemed to know what they were doing with their dancing. Jace had always wondered if there was something between them, but it had never quite seemed that way.

Jace shrugged. “If two pretty girls want to dance with me, who am I to say no?”

Zack shook his head, laughing. “You and Scotty, man.”

The other pair ended up separated by all the dancers before long, leaving Jace back alone with Lila and Nellie.

“You know… there’s other things that the three of us could get up to.” Nellie purred in Jace’s ear, and Lila looked over her shoulder with eager eyes.

Jace grinned, until his gaze slid up to see the doors to the warehouse swinging open. He gave a heavy sigh, knowing he was about to do something stupid.

“As much fun as that sounds, ladies, I think I’m going to have to take a rain check.” Jace said, and Lila and Nellie seemed equally surprised.

“Really?” Lila pouted.

“I’m really sorry.” Jace looked back and forth between them, and he gave each one a peck on the cheek. “I’ll definitely be back to cash that in later.”

“Maybe it won’t be available to you anymore.” Nellie raised an eyebrow.

“That’s a risk I’ll have to take.” Jace raised his eyebrow right back at her.

Lila and Nellie seemed pretty shocked, and Jace could hardly blame them, he mused as he started pushing through the crowd. It definitely wasn’t the kind of thing that he would do normally, but there was somebody he wanted to talk to.

Jace pushed through the dance floor, coming out the other side to see she was already making a scene at the drinks table. She looked radiant tonight, Jace thought to himself, then chided himself for it. She was just a hook up, there was definitely no need for thoughts like ‘radiant’ to be in his head.

She was in a gold dress tonight, one that clung to her supermodel curves tightly, cutting off at about mid-thigh. The dress also bared a good bit of her caramel colored large breasts. The gold of the dress seemed to make her flawless caramel skin look even more vibrant, and the tall model seemed to know it. She did wear gold quite a lot. Jace stood for a moment and admired her hourglass shape, his eyes trailing along her incredible curves, down her long toned legs. It of course also lingered on her amazing ass, firm and shapely and protruding very prominently in that clingy gold dress.

Her black hair was a straight curtain falling down around her angelic face, and then she turned towards him, and the whole angelic image was kind of ruined when Jace saw the thunder crackling in her piercing dark brown eyes. She stormed towards him, black hair swinging around her like a flag whipping in the wind. Her hair was long, too, falling down to probably her mid-back. As she drew nearer to him, Jace could see the disdain on her full lips, and he knew that somebody had pissed her off, though that was admittedly not hard to do.

“That bitch over at the punch bowl nearly spilled that red shit all over my dress.” Hazel Hightower thundered, and Jace looked her up and down.

“Seems like you dodged it.” he said wryly.

“Well, duh. I said nearly spilled, not that she had spilled on me.” Hazel retorted.

“Maybe some red would look good on your gold dress? Orange is definitely your color.” Jace pointed out, and Hazel scowled at him.

“I don’t want to have to pay for this dress to get that sticky shit off it.” Hazel told him.

“Yeah, I get it.” Jace chuckled. “Did you manage to get a drink at all?”

“No, because I felt some perv staring at me.” Hazel told him, glaring a hole into him.

“Maybe I should get you a drink, to make up for it.” Jace said.

“Did I say the perv was you? Guilty conscience, much?” Hazel snapped.

“Drink? Or no drink?” Jace raised an eyebrow.

“Drink.” Hazel muttered and stormed off. Jace couldn’t resist a grin as he headed towards the drinks table, but along the way he was joined by Scotty.

“Dude! What the hell were you doing talking to Bride of Dracula over there?” Scotty demanded, looking fearfully over his shoulder.

“Who, Hazel?” Jace asked. “And hey, where’s Victoria? Dude, she doesn’t know anybody at this party.”

“Yes, Hazel!” Scotty said, then shuddered as if he couldn’t even bear to say her name. “She’s the worst, Jace.”

“I don’t know about the worst.” Jace shrugged. “Olena’s pretty bad.”

“Olena may be a bitch, but at least she isn’t the devil herself!” Scotty hissed.

“I think you might be over-exaggerating.” Jace said as he grabbed two cups of punch.

“I’m not! Are you into her? Does the siren have you in her sick, twisted song?” Scotty asked, raising a hand to check his temperature.

“Scotty, she’s a girl. She is not a vampire, or a devil, or a siren.” Jace said wryly.

“That’s how they get you, Jace. They have suckers like you thinking they’re just a normal girl until bam! You’re getting your blood drank.” Scotty shook his head.

“I seem to remember you being into her.” Jace said innocently.

“Yeah, before she opened her wicked mouth and started talking! That girl is… there’s something satanic about her.” Scotty said, shaking his head emphatically.

“Uh huh.” Jace said, kind of tuning out his best friend as Scotty kept listing potential monsters Hazel could be. Scotty had gotten all the way to child stealing fae when he spotted Tanya in the crowd, which finally stopped him.

“Oh, damn, it’s Tanya. Good luck with Medusa!” Scotty said in a tone that Jace couldn't decipher as excitement or dread.

"This girl might be the **** of me. If so, delete my browser history." Scotty quipped actually sounding serious as he made a beeline for Tanya. Shaking his head wryly, Jace continued on for Hazel, until he spotted something that made his stomach turn. Evan Simmons, a smarmy grin on his stupid face, was talking to Victoria, and Victoria looked very very uncomfortable, but they were kind of boxed in by the partygoers, she had nowhere to go.

With barely a second thought, Jace started muscling his way through the crowd, heading towards his new friend. He pushed through several people, holding the drinks carefully so they didn’t spill.

“Hey, Evan, back off.” Jace told him firmly as he finally reached them, and Victoria gave him a grateful look.

“What? I’m just introducing myself to our new student.” Evan held up his hands.

“Uh huh. I’m sure you were.” Jace said, and Evan looked pissed as he nodded slowly before going back into the crowd, leaving Victoria alone.

“Hey, I’m sorry about him.” Jace shook his head to Victoria. “Maybe this party wasn’t the best idea, you don’t really know anyone.”

“Yeah…” Victoria nodded, blonde locks bouncing. “I do appreciate the effort though. Oh, but, I don’t drink, remember?”

“Huh? Oh, this isn’t for you.” Jace glanced down at the second drink in his hand. “It’s for-”

He looked up to see if he could see her, but there was nothing to see. Hazel had seen as Jace came to Victoria’s rescue, and Hazel had watched as he’d fended off Evan, and Hazel had seen the way Jace seemed so close with the new girl already… and Hazel had turned towards Zack Ravers and marched up to him.

Zack was talking with one of his best friends, Adrianna Cabot. He raised his eyebrows as she approached.

“Hazel?” Zack asked curiously.

“I don’t want to be at this party anymore.” Hazel told Zack frostily.

“Here we go.” Adrianna rolled her eyes.

“Why don’t you go hang out with Dana?” Zack suggested, which made Adrianna snort. She gave Hazel a glare as she walked away.

“This better be important.” Zack said, a grin playing at his lips.

“Of course it’s important, it’s me.” Hazel snapped. Zack nodded slowly.

“Hallway in five minutes?” he asked.

“No, now.” Hazel said, and grabbed Zack by the wrist to lead him away. As she left, she glanced over her shoulder to see if Jace was looking.

Unfortunately, he was lost in her new roommate’s emerald green eyes.
