The place was thankfully still open, though the one person at the counter asked that the two of them leave by 7:00 pm. From the look he gave Erica, she was probably leveraging a long-standing relationship she held as a frequent customer.

“Okay, I’ll try and find some contenders in your sizes, what should I look out for?” she asked.

Lenny coughed “… um… s-small, small sized…” and after a pause she nodded in understanding, walking into the myriad racks of clothing.

With nothing to do at the moment, Leonard wandered the other sections of the shop, browsing random wares with stickered price tags.

His eyes were drawn to a cyan Nintendo DS that only cost $15, probably due to a combination of a slightly cracked upper screen and a missing stylus. It even seemed to have a cartridge already inserted, though said cartridge was on closer inspection unable to be removed.

“What the hell, I can spare that much. Probably have an inkless pen lying around somewhere to tap with.” he thought, palming the battered device as he walked back to Erica’s focused search.

“Okay, so there’s not a lot of shirts in your size, but it’s probably gonna be less formal anyways, so we can cheat it by just rolling up the sleeves to the elbow and tucking it. Or just wearing it kind of like a jacket…? It’s like the same deal with the pants, do you have a good belt?”

“… yes?” Lenny answered, thinking back to a brown leather one he hasn’t worn in a while.

“Great, l-let’s just start trying stuff then. Here, g-go get changed.” his roommate stammered, before shoving a pile of clothes into his arms that he struggled to carry.

Luckily, the limited selection that actually was close to his measurements wasn’t a bad bunch, and he barely had to make picks that were too big for him. Leonard came out of the changing booth with a vertically striped blue-and-white dress shirt, black jeans, and brown loafers. “I-If I add the belt I have, it should match pretty good.” he assured, a hand holding up the slightly too loose pants.

The two were satisfied, checking out and spending about $35 for the whole ensemble. Though Erica raised an eyebrow at the DS that Leonard added to the final total, she waited until they left the shop to ask “What’s with the handheld? Looks kinda busted.”

“I just like the color, maybe we can do something with it?” Lenny explained, albeit with less confidence than he had when he started. As a test, he tried powering up the device. Amazingly, it still had about 34% of its battery.
