What is in the capsule?
A flash drive
David couldn't believe his own luck. He had just won the grand prize in a single roll, as evidenced by the "Lucky Winner" label plastered on the capsule he was holding in his hands. David couldn't see the contents, though, as the capsule was painted fully black, save for the "Lucky Winner" label plastered on it. He brought the capsule to his ears, trying to determine the content by listening to the noise it would make. He started shaking the capsule while listening to the voice it made, giggling excitedly as the capsule made a rattling noise.
Finally, he decided that he couldn't wait anymore and started opening the capsule. "Oooo... What's it gonna be...? What's it gonna be...?", he mumbled giddily as he opened the capsule. As he finished prying the capsule open, he finally laid his eyes upon the item inside. What he saw in there shook him to his very core. It was a single USB flash drive stick, also with the same "Lucky Winner" label plastered on it. His expression made a 180 degrees turn as his excitement instantly vaporized, replaced by disappointment. He couldn't even believe what he was seeing. Really? A flash drive? That was supposed to be his deepest desire? A fucking USB stick? What kind of stupid joke was this?
David was in a state of **** denial. He thought that something was definitely wrong here. He first thought that maybe "Lucky Winner" didn't automatically translate to "Grand Prize". They were two different words after all. That couldn't be it, though. He could've sworn that the two terms were practically interchangeable, though he wasn't exactly sure. Just in case, he decided to check out the machine again. He found a text on the machine listing out the rarity for the items in the gacha. At the top of the list he found "Lucky Winner (Grand Prize) - 0,00000001% chance". So he wasn't wrong after all, they were indeed referring to the same thing.
He then thought that the company who made the machine must've misplaced the item in the capsule. He decided to go to the cashier in order to complain. He found a long line of people waiting in front of the cashier counter, though. With little patience left after having his glorious moment of the day spoiled, he decided to cut the line and went straight to the cashier counter, shoving aside a man aside in the process. "Hey, what's the big deal!?", the man shouted angrily as his hands grabbed at David's shoulder. In response, David simply gave him a glare and the man quickly froze before raising both of his hands up hurriedly. "Whoa! Chill, man! I'm sorry!", the man said panickedly, terrified by David. The other people waiting in the line quickly gave way to David after that. Some tried to object, but David's glare quickly made them shut their mouths.
David smirked smugly as his thug look, with the tattoos and the piercings, had once again managed to intimidate people into giving him what he wanted. Now he just had to do the same thing to the cashier. He looked at the person standing behind the cashier counter and noticed that it was a girl. She had this deadpan look on her face, clearly unamused by the commotion that had just unfolded. She rolled her eyes and said in a somewhat annoyed tone, "What can I help you with, sir?".
David was unsatisfied that the girl was not in the least bit scared of him. He put on the scariest look he could and slammed the flash drive at the cashier counter before speaking in a menacing tone. "Your machine's broken. It says I won the grand prize, but clearly this ain't it.", he growled lowly as he pointed at the flash drive. The girl's eyes glanced at the flash drive on the counter before looking back at David. "Sir, it has the 'lucky winner' label on it. That is the grand prize", she said, still with a deadpan voice. David was starting to get annoyed by her tone so he clicked his tongue in frustration and argued back angrily. "This!? It's a fucking USB stick! How can you even call this a grand prize!? This isn't even funny!", he shouted, his body language turning a bit violent. "It is indeed your grand prize, sir. Can you please move now? Not only did you cut the line, you're also holding it up now", the girl replied nonchalantly.
David was furious by the reply he got. He was ready to escalate the situation to get what he wanted. To him, **** was now the question, and his answer was yes. He balled up his right fist and showed it to the cashier girl. "I'm not moving an inch, so you better take responsibility for my prize, or else...", he trailed off purposefully, trying to scare the girl. Unfortunately for David, the girl wasn't about to fall for his tactics. Instead, she just replied nonchalantly again, "Sir, please leave now or I will have the authorities escort you out.".
"What!? You can't just-", David cut himself off as he saw the look in the girl's eyes. She was dead serious. She was absolutely ready to call the cops on him. As stupid as he was, David still knew that messing with the cops was a bad idea as it meant real trouble. Sure, he had already gotten into trouble before when he terrorized the entire school with his mischiefs. But back then, he had his mother to bail him out of that situation. Dealing with the cops, though? That's just a bit too far, even for his mother, and he wasn't about to take the risk.
As much as he hated it, David knew that he had to back down. He had to admit his lost. He was humiliated in front of the crowd by this girl, right after he had just done a show of **** to intimidate them. His pride was hurt. In his mind, his target of **** had just doubled to a grand total of two people. John, and now this girl. He vowed to never forget this encounter and burned the memory of the girl's face into his brain. "You better watch your back, bitch!", he growled as he walked away to the exit door with his so called grand prize held tightly in his right hand. The crowds sneered at him as he did so.
David quickly stomped out of the store angrily and walked away from it. As he walked, he thought about how his day had unfolded. First, his mother had gotten angry with him, forcing him to run away from home. Next, when he thought that he had won a grand prize, all he got was a lousy USB stick. Finally, when he tried to complain about his prize, he got humiliated in front of a crowd. What a shitty day, he thought. There was no way it could get any worse, right?
Wrong!
David had spent the entire day walking around town, contemplating about the life choices that led him to his current state. By the time he realized it, the sun was already setting and it was almost nighttime. He had no place to stay at all in mind, at least not without coming back to his house where he would need to face his mother. He hadn't really planned on where he would be staying when he left the house earlier this morning. With that, David started thinking hard about someplace he could stay in. A hotel? He had no money left at all. His thug friends he was hanging out around? They were jailed not too long ago for doing ****. His other friends? Oh wait, he had none.
David sighed as he lamented over his current predicament. "Dammit, so much for granting my deepest desire...", he mumbled to himself. With little choice left, he decided to swallow his pride and went back home to his mother. The walk home was going to be long. In his aimless walking earlier at noon, he had apparently walked to the other side of the town. David sighed and just shut his brain off as he walked back home with his sore legs.
When he got home, it was already dark and the moon was already high up in the sky. He walked through the front door and came face to face with his mother. Her arms were crossed in front of her and she had a deep frown on her face. Yet, there seemed to be a hint of relief in her expression. David was surprised as his mother hadn't immediately scolded him, instead she just spoke sternly. "Go to your room, take a bath, get a change of clothes, then come to the dining room. I already made dinner for you.", she said while gesturing with her hand towards the staircase that leads to the second floor where David's room was. David just silently nodded and did what his mother told him to do. He went into his room, put the flash drive he had gotten as a prize on his desk, and took a bath. He then changed into fresh clothes and headed downstairs for dinner. He sat down for dinner with his mother and started eating. The two of them didn't speak at all for the entire course of the dinner, only silently watching each other.
The only conversation, if it could even be called that, happened after they had finished dinner when David's mother wished him good night. David didn't reply at all, though. His mind was miles away, thinking about the events that had happened earlier in the day. Rage was boiling inside of him. He went back to his room and locked the door behind him. He didn't really know what to do right now. He just felt angry at his current situation. He wanted to lash out, but it was already late at night and he was too tired. He didn't want to go to bed just yet, though. His anger wouldn't have allowed him to, anyway.
His eyes finally settled on the flash drive that he had placed on his desk earlier. Feeling cheated by the company who made the gacha machine, he grabbed the flash drive and almost threw it out the window. He refrained from doing so, though, as he felt that it would be a waste of money to just throw his so called grand prize away.
Realization suddenly struck David in a rare moment of brilliance for him. He thought that maybe the flash drive itself wasn't the prize, but rather, the content inside of it. With that idea in his mind, he immediately went to work and turned on his computer. He plugged the flash drive into his computer and navigated to the directory of the content. He noticed that the flash drive had around 8 GB of memories and out of all of it, 7 was already used up. He clicked on the folder, causing a list of files and folders to pop out. Out of all the files and folders he saw in there, one of the names caught his attention...
What is the name that caught David's attention?
