Almost her whole family is home:

You pull up to Krista’s house and your heart sinks a bit. Krista’s car is parked next on the street, the driveway being full up with her mom, sibling, and brother’s cars. The only person who’s car wasn’t there was her step mom.

Looking down at the clothes you're wearing you regret not getting your own clothes back from your mom. But it was too late for that now. At the very least you knew that Krista’s family wasn’t the judgemental type. In fact now that you think of it, they probably won’t see what’s going on as extremely out of the norm.

You sigh and bring your bike up to the porch, and lock it up in the same spot you always do, then knock on the door.

You hear Krista call out from inside, “That is either Ev or food, can someone get the door!”

You sigh, and resign yourself to probably having a weird conversation, but at least you can get it out of the way now.

Jessica Deepole, Krista’s mother, peeks through the window, then pulls open the door with a smile on her face. She is wearing light grey sweatpants that are sitting low on her hips, and a black sports bra that is struggling to contain her chest, her dog tags around her neck hanging just above her cleavage. Jessica was ripped, and she was not a shy person. She had some intense scars in various places across her body, most notable on her face, but even still she was beautiful.

And yet despite her appearance, she was the one giving you a once over.

“Uh, hi Mrs. Deepole,” you manage to say.

“Hiya Ev,” she pulls you into a hug almost tight enough to crush your ribs, then releases you, “I like the look. Krista’s just getting out of the shower I think, but you can head up to her room.”

“Thank you,” you say, face burning a bit, “how’ve you been?”

“Oh not too bad,” she says, closing the door behind you, “Looking forward to the holidays. Which, you are invited to, as always. Pretty sure Chuck already has a Yule present picked out for you.” Chuck being Krista’s step mom Charlie.

“Thank you, any idea what she wants this year?”

“I think she wants that new book by Nadya Yiffany, the werewolf one.”

“Under the Moon?”

“Yeah pretty sure,” She smiles and stops at the tv room, you can see Nyx and Sloane on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, their focus is pretty fixed on the tv, though Nyx does wave to you, “Well I’ll leave you to it, gotta get back to the movie.”

“What’re you watching?”

“Caligula,” Jessica says, raising her eyebrows mischievously, “want to come watch?”

“I think I’ll pass, have fun,” you say, going for the stairs.

“We will,” She says before vanishing into the tv room.

You head up stairs to the familiar hallway.
