Next audition

Once Lily leaves you get dressed again and head back out there, your assistant hands you the next folder and you see it is a young black woman with curly hair, tattoos and a decent body. Normally for a show like this you would not even consider her, it is showing off too much skin for this amount of tattoos, but you decide what could it hurt. You go out into the waiting room and say, "Amara, it is time for your audition."

You see a hopeful look on her face as she stands up to follow you back to your office, but you can tell she is nervous. You give her a reassuring smile as you sit behind the desk and motion for her to have a seat in the chair across from you.

"Relax Amara, we're just going to have a chat and see if you're a good fit for the role," you say, trying to put her at ease.

"So, tell me a little bit about yourself," you ask, glancing at her resume.

"Well, my name is Amara and I've been acting for a few years now. I've been in a few short films and some commercials," she says confidently.

"That's great, any credits we might recognize?" you inquire.

She looks at you for a moment before responding, "I was in a few episodes of a show called "The Bold and the Beautiful."

"Oh, I know that show," you say, purposely trying to show that you are unimpressive by some daytime tv show.

"So tell me, what is it about this role that interests you?" you ask, trying to gauge her passion for the part.

"I love this character and I think it would be a great challenge for me. I'm really excited about the opportunity to showcase my talents in a more dramatic role," she replies enthusiastically.

You nod in agreement, impressed by her confidence and enthusiasm. "That's great Amara, by the way, did you bring a headshot and resume with you?"

She produces them from her bag and hands them over to you. As you flip through her headshot, you can't help but admire her striking features and the way she captures the lens, but you also see her tattoos and you let her see your hesitation.
