Chapter 9 by Molotov989
Fight on or flee?
Fight on! We'll win this battle yet.
"Bravery men! it is just wood and oak! do you fear the water and the wind too? Strike back!" you below raising your ichor-coated axe above your head. A general cheer goes up from your men, as those on foot engage the beasts with more vigour, and those on horseback work in tandem to lay the beasts low.
Soran, tiring from the drain of casting spells, calls out "My lord! Their summoner must be near! can you not hear!" And heeding his words, you listen. A solemn tune, falling on deaf ears in the battle, but never the less there, binding the beasts, leading them to attack your men.
"Over there sire! On that hill!" Gunther shouted. His arm directing you to three figures, almost hidden by the brush, with white furred thighs and antlers adorning their fore-heads. Goat women, eat carrying a rune carved staff, and playing small bone pipes. They looked to be watching the battle intensely, controlling the groups of Vine men with every blow of their accursed tunes.
"We must end this now!" you call out, as you and Gunther strike out a path towards the three, and Soran the wizard in tow. They seemed to not notice your intentions, but rather played harder and louder their music. Indeed, the forest itself attempted to stop you, with roots and branches grabbing and tripping your feet.
But before long you where there, and as one attacked the three. Exchanging blow after blow, you killed the music, and in doing so freed your men from the ever-punishing **** of the forest beasts.
Ending as quickly as it started
