We're just friends

Oliver greeted the guy warmly, and introduced him to Kate as Mark, an old friend. He also made it abundantly clear that he and Kate were just friends. Kate, sensing the shift in dynamics, decided to play along. She flashed a friendly smile at the newcomer and raised her hand to show off her wedding ring. Mark however continued to tease. {if minidress == true} His gaze lingering a moment too long making Kate suddenly wonder if it had been a good idea to wear something so short. {endif}

The trio meandered through the lively festival streets, Kate at the center with Oliver and Mark on either side. Laughter and music filled the air as they exchanged casual banter.

"So, you guys go way back from school?" Kate asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Yeah, we've been buddies for ages," Oliver replied, a hint of nostalgia in his tone. "But we took different paths after school. I went for art, and Mark here became a physiotherapist. Now he's a masseuse."

"That's right, and if you ever find yourself stressed out, you know who to call." Mark chimed.

Kate turned her attention to Mark. "So how come you're alone?"

He nodded with a nonchalant shrug. "Haven't had much luck with girls, ma'am." Kate chuckled. Despite his initial crass demeanor, Mark's humor started to grow on Kate. Some of his jokes even managed to elicit genuine laughter.

As the night unfolded, Oliver suggested, "Let's find a spot to sit and take a break."

The trio stumbled upon a secluded spot on a grassy field, a welcome respite from the lively festival. Kate, feeling the strain on her feet, took off her sandals and settled onto the ground. "My feet are killing me," she remarked, easing herself into a sitting position.

Mark and Oliver joined her on the grass. As they chatted, Mark noticed Kate's discomfort. "Hey, why don't you lay down?" he suggested. "I can give you a killer foot massage."
