Chapter 7
by Super_Tramp
What do Michael and Amanda do next?
Michael suggests they go for a walk.
Michael leads her down the path, her heart racing with excitement and anticipation. The area is dense with vegetation and tall trees, the leaves rustling in the breeze. It's dark and still, the only sound being the occasional hoot of an owl. They follow the trail for about ten minutes before Michael suddenly stops Amanda. "Stop," he says, pulling a handkerchief from his pocket. "Put this over your eyes." Amanda looks at him curiously. "Why?" she asks. He cocks his head slightly, "Don't you trust me?" he asks. She smiles gently, "Of course I do." she says. "Then put it on." he says. Amanda hesitates for a moment before putting the handkerchief over her eyes. It feels soft against her skin. She ties it behind her head, her hands trembling slightly. She feels Michael grab her hand gently as he leads her down the path. "D-don't let me fall," she says nervously. She had never done anything like this before. The feeling of not knowing where she was going or what could happen next was thrilling and a little bit terrifying. She clung tightly to Michael's fingers as they walked along the dark, winding trail and she could barely contain her excitement. After a few minutes, Michael stopped them.
"Okay, we're here." he said in a low, calming voice. "Are you ready?" Amanda nodded, her heart pounding in her chest as she eagerly anticipated what lay beyond the blindfold. "I.. I think so," she stuttered, her voice trembling with anticipation. He removed the blindfold from her eyes. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the brightness, and as she did, she looked around at her surroundings. They stood at the edge of a clearing with thousands of flowers covering the ground as far as they eye could see. She had never seen so many different types of flowers in one place, and the sight was made all the more amazing as she witnessed hundreds maybe even thousands of butterflies dancing amongst the blooms, the flutter of their wings like a gentle whisper in the wind. The smell of the flowers was intoxicating and the colors so vibrant that Amanda felt overwhelmed by their beauty. "Wow!" she exclaimed, her voice full of awe. "This is.." Her hands reached for the camera around her neck, her fingers trembling with emotion. "This is.. so amazingly beautiful." She could feel a knot forming in her throat and her eyes began to water. The last time she saw anything like this was in a painting she saw in a museum, but there was something about being here, standing right where these flowers grew that made her emotional. "I know," Michael said, smiling gently. His voice was full of emotion as he continued, "When I was younger, I would come here every year just to take in the view. The season has to be just right or else you miss it all together." He let go of her hand and kneeled down next to her. "You can see everything from here." he said, as he pointed around them.
They both sat there in stunned silence, awe-struck by the sheer beauty that surrounded them. Amanda was quickly filling up her memory card with shot after shot of the majestic scenery. She had to ensure that she captured every moment of this trip. She felt a deep sense of contentment being there with him. The air was peaceful and tranquil. The clearing was the perfect backdrop for photo ops. "Hey Michael," she began, her voice hushed in reverence, "could you take some pictures of me in the wildflower meadow?" "Definitely," he replied, rummaging through his backpack before pulling out a small perfume bottle. "Spray some of this on your shoulders and hair. Don't worry, it's completely safe." She smiled lovingly at him as she accepted the bottle from him. She spritzed it all over her body, taking in the subtle, floral scent as the clear liquid soaked into her clothing. Afterward, she handed him her camera. "Okay, where should I stand?" He pointed to a random spot. "Anywhere is fine, really." She giggled, doing her best to strike a pose. "Like this?" she asked. "Perfect," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement, "now just wait a couple minutes. Okay?" Amanda nodded, bemused. "Okay, but why—" Suddenly, a butterfly landed on her shoulder. "Oh, hurry take a picture!" she exclaimed, her voice a whisper of excitement. "Not yet," Michael chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Are you serious?" she asked exasperatedly, her heart racing with excitement. She looked up and saw a flurry of delicate wings fluttering around her head and felt the wings of a butterfly brush against her nose. She couldn't believe what was happening, it was like a dream come true. Michael quickly grabbed his camera and began to take photos of her as the butterflies swarmed around her. She laughed joyfully as her heart soared with the beauty of it all. She felt like she was in a magical world; one where anything was possible. The butterflies began to land on her arms and legs, and one even perched on her neck. She gasped in delight and opened her mouth wide as if to catch it. Michael quickly snapped the moment and she laughed in awe. "No way, this is insane!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder. "I can't believe this is happening!" Michael chuckled and pulled out a perfume bottle to disperse the butterflies. They slowly fluttered away, but Amanda begged him to take one more picture before they all disappeared. He smiled and complied, capturing the last few butterflies with his camera. As they flew away, the wet fabric of her dress felt cool and refreshing against her skin. She stood up and walked toward him, feeling on top of the world. "Wow," she said breathlessly. "This was amazing, I can't believe I just experienced something so incredible!"
She snatched the camera from him and studied the photos he had just taken. "Oh my goodness," she exclaimed. "This shot is incredible! You captured the moment perfectly." She pulled him in for a kiss and felt her heart pounding wildly. His lips were soft and warm, and she never expected things to go so well. She couldn't believe how nervous she was, but now everything was perfect. Despite her friend Lina's teasing that Michael was too much of a prude and that she would be wasting her time, she was glad she had taken the risk. "That was really amazing!" She said, beaming. "Thank you so much!" Michael blushed, his cheeks turning a deep crimson. "You're welcome," he said, grinning. "But don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from." She felt a thrill run through her body and could barely contain her excitement. "Re-really? I can't wait!" They both sat down next to each other in the clearing, and she noticed thousands of butterflies fluttering around them. She didn't want to leave this place; it was so tranquil and peaceful. And being next to Michael made her feel so happy. She looked at him. He was so handsome. His short dirty blonde hair framed his face beautifully, and his blue eyes sparkled like stars when the sun hit them just right. "Oh, I just noticed you aren't wearing your glasses," she said. "You look incredibly handsome without them." Michael blushed even deeper. "Thanks," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "I thought it would be nice to take a break from them for a day or two." She smiled and nodded. "Yeah, they do make you look dorky sometimes," she said, poking him playfully in the ribs. They both laughed, and she felt so at ease in his presence. Though they had been dating before, it always felt more like being best friends. Now, though, something had changed. There was something more between them. "It's getting late," Michael said softly. "We should probably head back." "Okay," she replied, her voice filled with longing. "Let's go."
