Why not?

So... I may have made a mistake. New rule for myself, don't wish while tired. Turns out saying "I wish I had some extra powers to help me" before bed might have been a bad idea, cause I didn't specify what kind, or a number. While I could feel a difference when I woke up, I was in too much pain from a severe headache to focus and think. It took at least an hour for my body to heal enough that I wasn't in danger of a reset, the entire time I spent huddled over a trash can like it was my best friend and I was a hungover college kid. With my head pain calming down my first thought was to wish for small amounts of more information for whatever new powers or abilities I may have gotten. The headache came back at full ****, still nothing compared to the insane backlash from the attempted big wish the day before, the info I got though was both interesting and embarrassing. I looked over some of the info I got put into my head and found myself walking awkwardly to a teacher's room... deciding to NOT mention that power to any of the female teachers I opened the door to see Jean on the other side smiling at me. "Morning Zane. So how can I help you? Shouldn't you be getting to class soon?" She asked with a bit of concern. "I think all the wishing yesterday unlocked some new aspect or ability my powers grant me. It's... well uh, j-just see for yourself I guess." I said, as she looked at me with curiosity. A moment later and she was looking more surprised than anything as I willed a shield of energy into existence in front of me. A see through barrier of energy with a deep blue color too it, it was only large enough to be used as a shield against a frontal attack by the looks of it. At least that's what Jean had said, then she led me to a place to test out my power in a safer environment.

We arrived downstairs in a training room with targets and dummies all around the place, Logan seemed to be waiting there for us. "Hey there kid, got a message from the Cuckoos that you had something new to test out. Any idea's what it is?" As Logan finished speaking the door opened and Beast walked in, looking like he was ready to take notes. Showing the glowing blue shield was easy enough, but next came some more difficult stuff. Logan wanted to try seeing how strong the shield was, at first he tried striking it normally before letting out his claws and taking a swing at it. His claws just BOUNCED right off! He actually stumbled back a couple steps. "Interesting, it appears to be some sort of energy barrier that can repulse attacks when struck. Can you do anything else with it? Any feelings or instincts telling you to try anything else?" Beast was in full doctor mode, trying to help me understand my power and find new ways to use it. I stepped back from the others a moment as I did feel a few different things I could do. Focusing on following my instincts with this new power, I watched as the shield began to change it's color and shape, slowly forming into a deep green orb floating around me... I tried pushing myself a bit more in that direction and watched as a second and third green orb appeared with the first. I nearly collapsed if I tried to push it any further though, pulling it back a bit the 2nd and 3rd orbs vanished as I tried to focus on what the orb could do.

So I followed my instincts again and found this green ball, about the size of a softball, suddenly shooting at one of the targets nearby! It wasn't a hard target, but the wood was impacted where the orb had hit, the orb practically bouncing back towards me with the same speed. I followed an instinct and ended up smacking the orb, it seemed to crack slightly as it suddenly fired out at double it's previous speed! When it hit the target this time though there wasn't an impact left behind, as the orb exploded in a burst of green light. I fell onto my ass at that point as I suddenly felt winded, I saw Beast scribbling down notes and muttering "Fascinating" to himself as Logan laughed and Jean came over to check on me. Logan already moving to replace the now destroyed target. "Good work kid! That looks like it could be real useful when you gotta defend yourself, definitely gonna have to help you train that." Logan spoke out, curious to see just what else my new power might be able to do. "You okay Zane? Looks like that took a bit out of you." Jean asked me, I gave her a nod and asked her to stand back. I wasn't sure what would happen next but I wanted to try a couple other feelings I was getting about this new power.

I found that I could cover my body in a glowing white light, it wasn't blinding, it was more like an outline around my body, but doing so led to me discovering I could fly like this! I had shut it down before I could get more than a foot or two off the ground though, no sense in risking my body when I don't have someone to teach me how to fly yet right? At that point Logan laughed and explained that Jean could have caught me if I suddenly started falling. "Wait so you can move things with your mind as well? That's so cool Miss Grey!" I had responded, well before Beast asked if I could feel anything else I could try. I felt a serious strain on my body, but as it finally began to feel like I was stabilizing I looked in front of me. There was a pure black speck in front of me, it was so small, like a tiny piece of dirt on a screen. Logan put himself between me and the others, looking like he was on high alert. I gently poked at it and it moved a few inches forward, looking at the others Logan gave me a nod and I... I flicked it at the dummy. The moment the speck touched the dummy... one second later and an orb of pitch black energy enveloped the dummy completely, another second and it was gone, the sphere shrinking back to a speck before vanishing.

I had no idea what had happened to it, where it had gone, anything. And the sounds of Beast DROPPING his notepad did nothing to hold back the sudden exhaustion and stress my body felt SLAM into it. Jean came walking up, looking concerned. I think they believed I felt fear, my legs shaking as I was gasping for air, struggling to stay standing as Jean approached me. Beast looking around the affected area with Logan. "Zane? Are you alright? It's natural to be... afraid of that kind of power. Training and learning to control it will help you a lot, though I understand wanting to put off training that ability." I shook my head at her as I gasped, letting out a wheeze as I finally got back air into my lungs and started to relax. "It's n-not that... I d-don't think I can do that again for... a LONG while... It feels like I might be able to do more eventually though." I tried to explain, probably looking incredibly pale with how exhausted I felt. With that I was lead away by Jean, she felt that I was hiding something apparently. We arrived in a room where she asked me about what it was I was hiding. I tried explaining that I really didn't wanna talk about it, that I didn't feel comfortable talking about it. Her reaction was to take me to speak to Xavier, she would arrange a meeting around lunch so as to not disrupt any classes and then sent me on my way back to mine.

Lunch time came, and it was time to meet the professor...
