Chapter 23

Is your guess right, correct or totally true?
Of course it is.
Professor O'Neell bores you a whole hour before dismissing class. He steals a few long glances at Casey, you and Ashley, but otherwise he's a professional. He isn't bothered by the fact that his white beard turns grass green, whenever he's stepping away from his whiteboard, and into your color-coding area. Actually, you begin to suspect that it's only you who can directly see which stuff belongs to which person.
You snort, thinking how O'Neell would probably phrase your situation. Rather... "I emit a metaphysical field displaying the property status of objects."
Either that, or everyone but you believes that things are normal that way. And on another thought, that could be what is happening here. You better investigate. You elbow Casey, as the three of you walk out of the room after class, Casey being in the middle and front. "Hey Casey, can I ask you about this class we just had? What is the deal with the double-seat table?
She continues to forge ahead to the next room, but shortly looks at you. "Oh, yeah, that is a bit unusual. I have no idea why they placed the table in there. But good for us, right, no way that guy would have had a spot in the course after I brought you in." She shrugs.
You look at the students who now fill the hallways, right before the first regular period starts. People are entering your color-bubble and leave it again. When they're inside, all their possessions slowly lose their original colors, and if they are long enough in your bubble, you can see how the color takes hold. But as you're just passing in the hallway, you mostly just see how they immediately snap back to their real colors as you leave them behind. Mostly, they pass you so fast that you only see the shimmer of color-changing begin, when they are already leaving the field again.
Right. You check with Asley and Casey, and they both claim that nothing strange is going on with colors or color-changes. So it's just you? And which things are normal now? "Okay... wait Casey, is our room back in the dorm... like, normal?" you ask.
"Yes, all students share their room with two others and sleep together in a big-ass designer bed..." she begins, and you can almost feel the snark dripping at you like acid, when she continues. "No you dolt, my Dad forked over a lot of extra money so that I would be comfortable, and I sure didn't tell him how I used it. As if I would sleep in those dingy little beds like all the riffraff. What's up with these sudden questions; Emcey?"
"Just checking if there is something... um... not normal about us." you mutter, and see Casey facepalm.
"There isn't, just look into a mirror and open your mouth wide." she hisses. The three of you head into another classroom, and Casey has Ashley and you sit again to her left and right.
"Um, okay, and what is this class, now?" you begin. Ashley hands Casey a purple folder, and the bossgirl motions for you both to huddle around her purple table. Ashley points at a week schedule, and at the class that is marked Bio 101. You check the clock... yes, that is now.
"Great, Ashley, good work on your classes. Except for these two slots here, we now have the exact same schedule, and you're on track to share all courses with us next semester. Now for your forms, Emcey, I think we have to move quite a lot of courses for you to fit in. Let's see here..."
All your suspicions were true. You're in Casey's posse now, and it's like she said to Professor Grass-Beard: she gets what she wants. And what she wants is to have a posse who all share her interests in the majors of Law and Biology. And that means you are going to have to reschedule a lot, and fill out the forms and applications to change majors. At least, Casey is not leaving the stuff to you, she practically hovers over all the little details. Ashley does most of the work, because she already filed the same paperwork for herself, just days ago. Again, you wonder if this happened because of your wishes, or because Casey and Ashley were already in cahoots when Casey stumbled into your door on Jack's arm last evening.
And then, your Bio 101 starts and turns out to be actually more interesting than you remember from highschool.
Which is quite a trip down memory lane. Your own memory is pretty fuzzy about it all. Your wishes scrambled a lot of your previous life, each time you wished for something. The first changes were just about how Casey and male-you became roomies, and that just required some superficial editing of your past, making it so that you were indebted to Casey's Dad.
But when you changed into a girl, and when your tock was replacing your tongue, a lot more of your past was edited and rewired, and in each of these changes, new memories were placed in your brain. Some of them, more recent than the others.
But as far as you can tell from the new memories...
