Harley's formal renaming

Harley sat at the strange hybrid of a table and a desk and struggled with the sheets of paper in front of her as she tried figure out her new identity.

“Found her,” Dick said as he walked into the room.

Harley watched as he was followed by the red-haired alien woman. Dick went to a TV at one end of the room and put the phone by the TV and hit a few buttons on his phone and the TV remote. On the screen, Barbara came on at her desk.

“So, some was busy last night,” Barbara said from the TV.

“Oh boy,” Harley put her head down on the table.

“Friend Harley, I am concerned,” Kori said.

“So what are you doing?” Dick said walking over, “Wow, drawing in the drawing room.”

“What?” Harley arched an eyebrow.

“The drawing room, why it has all the drawing desks and the stage over there,” Dick said pointing at the tables and the area at the back of the room.

“So this is what those rooms are supposed to look like,” Harley said, “You always hear about that, but no one actually has one.”

“So what are you working on friend Harley?” Kori asked.

“Trying to figure out my new identity as a bat,” Harley said.

Both Dick and Barbara started laughing.

“What?” Harley said, “If I am on team bat now, I need to be a bat, right?”

“That is true,” Barbara said, “But that isn’t your mistake.”

“So what is my ‘mistake’?” Harley put her hands on her hips.

“You don’t name yourself,” Dick said, “No one does.”

“What?” Harley asked.

“I wanted to be Batwoman,” Barbara said over the TV, “But someone pointed out that I wasn’t old enough yet, and we already had a woman dressed as a bat. So, I got dubbed Batgirl by Boy Wonder over there.”

“What about Robin?” Harley asked.

“Nickname my mother gave me, Alfred put the R on my uniform and dubbed my heroic persona as ‘Robin’ and in turn I dubbed Tim ‘Robin’ later on,” Dick said.

“What about you?” Harley looked at the alien girl.

Kori smiled and giggled.

“Aren’t you ‘Star Fire’ or something?” Harley asked.

“It is my name,” Kori agreed, “But friend Harley, I never named myself. Kori’ander is the name my parents gave me. When I first joined the Teen Titans, Kid Flash started calling me Star Fire or just Star based on the translation of my name to English.”

“Wait, what?” Harley asked, “You mean to tell me your name translates to Star Fire? So that is why they call you that?”

“Well it would closer to ‘flaming light of the stars’, but yes,” Kori said, “That is why I am known as Star Fire here.”

“And she was dubbed that by Kid Flash,” Barbara repeated to hammer home the point.

“Hell Bruce didn’t even pick out Batman,” Dick said, “According to Alfred he had some creepy existential crisis one night and started work on a bat costume, but he never named himself.”

“Really?” Harley asked.

“Nope, that was Knox and Vale that put the name on him,” Barbara said, “Before that it was ‘the shadow,’ or ‘the bat’ or ‘the vampire’ or nonsense like that.”

“Well shit, I didn’t know that,” Harley said.

“Did you name yourself Harley Quinn Friend Harley?” Kori asked.

“No, that was Mister J…” Harley asked.

“Tell you what,” Dick said grabbing a piece of paper and a pen, “I will let you pick…”

Dick wrote down three things and then tore up the paper and moved them around face down. Harley came over and picked up a piece…

“Vamp-Bat?” Harley snapped, “Seriously?”

“Do you want to be Ding Bat or Fruit Bat?” Barbara rolled her eyes on the TV.

“You planned this out already?” Harley was shocked.

“Welcome to the Belfry, Vampire Bat,” Dick said, “You already got the gothic pale skin going!”

"Don't worry, we will get you a proper suit, with a comlink so we can keep in touch while you are out..." Barbara said, "Not even Batman goes out without being linked up to my monitoring systems."

"Do I have to?" Harley asked.

"You can turn them off if you need to," Dick lied.
