Kings Funeral

The cathedral had started to fill up with dignitaries and nobles from all over the kingdom. Also present were King Linus and his Wife Queen Irene from the kingdom of Kronian. The cathedral was almost silent apart from the funeral music played by the royal band. Along the walls stood soldiers with there swords held before them the tips on the ground. Soon the anthem sounded and Queen Amelia entered the cathedral followed by her mother and Lady Marina and Lady Isabelle. She wore a simple yet magnificent black dress, designed to fit tight around her waist which then flares out into a large skirt, showing off her elegance and grace. Her hair fell down gently onto her shoulders giving it more femininity. Queen Amelia walked slowly towards her seat feeling the heavy weight of responsibility settling upon her shoulders. It felt suffocating and she tried hard to hold back tears. Soon the funeral lament started to play as the Kings casket was carried in to the cathedral. The casket was covered in the royal standard and the pall bearers carried the kings body with reverence. The air within the magnificent cathedral was thick with sorrow and solemnity, carrying with it centuries of stories, secrets, prayers, and memories. Arch Bishop Micheal wait for the music to stop then started the ceremony. "We are gathered here today to say farewell to King Gregory. He served us his people with love and devotion. King Gregory now takes his final journey where he will be watched over by the angels.

God we beseech you in your wisdom to welcome King Gregory into your celestial home. We who are left behind will have our own memories of the King but you my Lord in heaven know all his. My lord please look kindly on our new Queen Amelia as she followers in her fathers footsteps." Soon the funeral was closing to an end and Queen Amelia was struggling to hold back her tears as the casket was carried to the royal tomb in the cathedral. Queen Amelia, Queen Helena and their entourage solemnly walked out of the Cathedral to the carriages waiting outside. They were followed by the rest of the nobles. Queen Amelia sat in the private study with her mother and King Linus and Queen Irene. Her gaze rested on the ornately carved wooden desk, feeling heavy with sorrow after losing her father. The air was filled with hushed whispers, condolences exchanged between royal family members, but she could not shake off the bitter memory of her last conversation with him. He had promised her safety and power - now, without his guidance, everything seemed uncertain. Queen Amelia turned to King Linus and Queen Irene and said "Thank you for coming to my fathers funeral he spoke very highly of you both." King Linus replied solemnly, "Your Highness, we owe your father more than words can express. His wisdom and strength guided our own reign, and it deeply saddens us to see him go. But as you mentioned before, we must focus on the future – yours and ours alike." Helena looked at them with a touch of worry. She knew how precarious these times were for all of them; uncertainty reigned supreme across the land. Despite her sadness, Amelia appreciated the support from King Linus and Queen Irene.

Their camaraderie brought warmth to the somber atmosphere, giving her hope amidst her despair. As they talked about various matters concerning their respective kingdoms. Meanwhile, Helena observed their interactions carefully, understanding the significance of such an alliance and knowing that her daughter needed someone who would protect her both emotionally and physically. As Amelia listened attentively to King Linus discuss strategies against potential uprisings, her heart began to race involuntarily. They all shared stories of King Gregory. While most revolved around his legendary wit and unwavering leadership, it became clear that the bond among them extended beyond mere politics—it reached into their personal lives too. They shared tales of adventures taken together, nights spent laughing until tears streamed down their faces, late dinners where philosophical debates led to deeper connections being formed amongst them. Each tale painted a portrait of a man who wasn’t just a ruler but also a friend. And though those memories left smiles upon everyone's lips, there was still a lingering undercurrent of pain beneath which lay buried deep inside. Lady Marina walked in and whispered into Queen Amelia's ear telling her that the new ambassador to Julan was her. Queen Amelia made her apologies to King Linus and his wife. She headed to the royal office where Lady Felina awaited her. "Lady Felina welcome. I am appointing you to be our ambassador to Julan.

You will take up your duties as soon as you can. When you arrive in Julan please inform Queen Juliette of my fathers passing." Lady Felina thanked the Queen for trusting her with such a position then left the office and headed out of the palace. Amelia returned to the private study and the royals chatted on for a few more hours until they all headed to their chambers to sleep.
