Back in the field

At this point I wouldn’t even care if I got killed. I’ve never been this angry. How could he do that to me? That pig! Sometimes I feel like I can be too good of a friend. Sasha is lucky to have me around, with the things that I do for her. She’ll have to fend for herself for a change now.

My only prayer is that Fedorov’s decrepit jizz didn’t get me pregnant. There’s a decent chance actually, given that he is fat, old, a heavy smoker, and an alcoholic. I’ll know in about a week.

I should just shoot him the next time I go in there. I wouldn’t get very far afterwards, but it would almost be worth it.

“What has you looking so pissed off?” Smirnov asks, approaching from behind and walking alongside me.

“None of your business.” I growl at him.

“Save some of your nastiness for the fascists.” He tells me. “You might get a chance.”

“They’d better pray that I don’t.” I mutter. Smirnov leaves me and we carry along.

Our squad is part of a larger group today. Captain Zaitsev is with us, among others. I’m not sure exactly what we’re doing yet, but I have a very strong feeling that we’re on a collision course.

Eventually, we come to a stop and don’t move for what feels like a long time. Dadonov comes and moves us out. We follow him to the top of a hill which overlooks a curve in the road. When I go to step up to the top of the hill, Dadonov grabs me by my shoulder and pulls me down.

“Don’t ever stand up on the top of a hill like that.” He tells me firmly. “It makes you too easy to see.”

“I understand.” I tell him.

“Alright!” Dadonov calls out in a hushed voice to everybody else. “This is where we set up.”

He turns to me. “And you, do not leave my side.”
