The Mythic City intrigues you

"What is this Mythic City?" you ask Lenny.

"I don't know exactly," he said. "I think they keep like the most fantastical stuff there, but it's super dangerous. They don't even use it for training most times because the girls go in and never come out."

"But it's a city, right? Full of people."

"I guess, I know they have food and stuff, that's about it. I don't think we should go that way."

That seals it. If this wimp is afraid to go that way then you are definitely going that way. Not waiting to tell him as much, you set off in the direction of the Mythic City and Lenny reluctantly falls in behind you. It is a long and arduous path through the jungle, but eventually you find yourself running into lush mountains. A narrow river valley passes between the nearest peaks, so you follow the flowing river, stopping to wash off the grime of the jungle and have a drink.

You emerge on the other side of the valley with a shock. The fading afternoon light has suddenly returned to full brightness with a sunny, cloudless morning sky above. Before you lies a landscape straight out of a picture book of Ireland, rolling greens and winding dirt lanes. This area seems enclosed on all sides by the same lush mountains, but the space is huge. Almost too huge for the island.

Perhaps a mile to the north you see a small country village. Something is off about it, but you can't quite tell what. To the west there is the promised city. It is immense and surrounded by a brilliantly white wall. The road leads over a large bridge and to a gatehouse of some sort. Behind the wall you can see a fabulous palace surrounded by a variety of buildings with tiled clay roofs.

"There it is," says Lenny. "I still think this is a bad idea."

The village and the city appear about the same distance from you.
