Run back to bed

You realize that the source of that noise and smell must be inside the bathroom with you, somehow. Throwing caution to the wind you manage to break your temporary paralysis and take a step towards your bed, preparing to run for it.

Your foot steps in a puddle of something slippery, and slides forward, causing you to do a neat split on your bathroom floor. You didn't know you were quite that flexible! While you are still pondering how amazingly wide your legs can spread apart, your mind is snapped back to reality by the sound of your bathroom door closing shut.

The darkness is now even more complete, lacking even the faint moonlight that was shining in through your bedroom curtains. Yet, something seems to be glowing in here - the puddle you stepped in has a faint glow, like bodily fluids glowing under black light on those crime scene investigation shows you used to like to watch.

Your own body seems to be lighting up as well. It must be that new bath salt you tried out before you went to bed, because your entire body is glowing now. You have only begun to wonder where the ultra-violet light is shining from when a big glob of shining fluid drops into your field of vision and splatters on the tiled floor.

Looking up you see the bathroom ceiling covered with a big, dark gelatinous mass, purplish black but seemingly glowing from within like a big amorphous black lamp. Temporary mouths, eyes and other appendages constantly form and dissolve on its quivering surface, as it prepares to strike!
