Chapter 16 by justthatguy56400 justthatguy56400

The door clicks

And the sun goes down

Stepping into the car Rebecca froze, something was very different, all of the lights in the car where on, classic lamplight bulbs buzzing with the hum of electricity ran the entire length of the car, this in itself was odd but what really made her worry was the fact that the sun was gone, it was night time and while the luggage and kitchen cars both lacked windows there was no way She had been in them long enough for the sun to have set. Fear crept into her heart as She slowly walked to the rear of the car, scanning the rows of seats as She went. Nothing was out of place, they were all identical as the previous cars. Rebecca began to walk faster, something was wrong, this train was not this long, there were not this many cars, how long had She even been on this train? Passing into the next car revealed an identical one, and another one after that. With only one exeption... In the back right corner of the car a single light remained unlit. Approaching it cautiously Rebecca examined the seat. The bulb looked fine, the seat matched every other, leaning over She peered out the window to see the dark countryside slide by, a brilliant night sky filled with stars, only something was off. A distant glow of light pollution was not present, in fact no signs of human life at all existed on this landscape, in place of roads were long fields of grass, and unnaturally tall trees stood where cellphone towers should be. The only human influence at all was the train and its tracks, a start contrast cutting through to untouched nature surrounding it. Leaning back Rebecca's mind raced as She turned over all of the possibilities until something terrible caught her eye.

What did She see?
