It’s uneventful

Emily walks back, and it’s of course embarrassing. What she didn’t realize earlier is that holding these bags, she can’t cover herself at all… Emily tells herself that it’s fine and and that she’s been seen naked so many times by now that it’s not a big deal.

She doesn’t believe it herself.

As usual, cars honk and people jeer, but after a long ten minutes she finally makes it back to the safety of the car wash. Her mother is at the front desk, looking upset.

“What took you so long, Emily! Cars have been lining up, and people have been angry that you aren’t here!”

Emily wants to blurt out everything that’s happened. “I was molested, mom! Don’t you care about that? I was **** to have sex with a man since you forgot to give me money too!” She really wants to say it. But with her moms current track record, she doubts she would believe a word Emily says…

So instead Emily just says. “The store was busy. Plus it’s hard to walk around barefoot for so long!” Both true, but not even close to the full truth.

Emily’s mother sighs. “I guess that’s to be expected. Well you’re here now, and some things have changed since you left.”

Emily raises and eyebrow and crosses her arms over her chest. “What do you mean?”

Her mother leans over on the counter. “Well…”
