The Parkers

"Well that's going to be quite the party in lockup!"

Walt laughed looking at the police taking in the Hand then grunted as Gwen healed up his wound. "Yeah that's the truth. I can hear them saying 'Bengoshi' now." Gwen blinked and he smiled. "Lawyer."

She laughed. "I wonder. Their usual lawyer is otherwise occupied these days."

Walt nodded. "Yeah. Murdocks 'retired'. Good riddance." He smiled. "Your dad put Fisk behind bars years ago. Murdock took over as 'Kingpin' and now he's gone. I think we just took out every Hand member on the eastern seaboard. Things should quiet down for at least a little while around here until the next bunch step up."

Gwen sighed but smiled and nodded rubbing her fingers across his back where the wound had been. It had healed away without leaving a scar... but it ran right next to a similar old one. He'd been stabbed in the back before. "It doesn't end does it?"

Walt shook his head. "You've been doing this long enough to know. Nature abhors a vacuum. Power vacuums are the same way. Could be a villian, a crime syndicate or just a bunch of petty gangs but something will always fill the void eventually." He took her hand and kissed her fingers. "But that's no reason not to do it. You've helped so many people in so many ways. Your actions help people who you'll never even meet."

Gwen smiled and nodded. "And that's what makes it all worthwhile." She lay her head on his shoulder. "You don't do too badly yourself either."

Walt grinned. "High praise." He kissed her head and breathed in the smell of her hair. "Want to get out of here?"

Gwen nodded. "Yeah... let's go." She didn't move to get up immediately though. She put her arms around him instead. "I love you," she said quietly.

Walt nodded and wrapped her in his arms tightly too. "I love you."

"Aww geez Red," Temporary Watcher Stan said passing the tissues. "Pull yourself together guy!"

Temporary Watcher Deadpool sniffled wipping at his eye holes. "I can't help it!"

Stan shook his head. "You always get like this?"

Deadpool nodded. "Ninja battle scenes are the best! Throw in some good tunes and a freaky weird alien spider symbiote thing? It was just beautiful." He fanned his face with his fingers. "Hoooo... I'm ok. I'm ok. Sorry about that."

Stan smiled turning back to the TV. "Good cause the date scenes gotta be coming up!"

Deadpool nodded and turned to the reader pointing at Stan whispering, "Gwen Stacy dates are his favorites!"

Stan turned back. "You say something?"

Deadpool nodded patting Stan on the shoulder. "I said I'll make popcorn. Your favorite."

Stan smiled warching Deadpool get up to go the kitchenette. "Thanks pal!" Stan looked at the screen. "Uh oh! What's this?"

"What are you so nervous about?"

Walt chuckled walking down the street. "I just feel a bit awkward is all. You know how I feel about 'sneaking' into your house."

Gwen chuckled. "Yeah... like you're an old, pervert preying on a young woman. But that was before," she squeezed his hand as they walked. "Dad's not home and we're only stopping by and almost there. Plus we're already together. You shouldn't feel weird about-"

"Hi Gwen, Dr Stork!"

Gwen jumped letting go of his arm and sticking her hands behind her back then awkwardly realizing she needed one of them to wave. "Hi Ben! Hi May!"

Ben turned to May Parker as they stood outside their house right next to the Stacy residence. "May this is one of Gwens professors at school. Dr uh, Wilbur Stork?"

Walt smiled tacking off his hat and sticking out his hand to shake May's and chuckled. "Close, Benjamin Parker. Dr Walter Stork, but please call me Walt. It's a pleasure to meet you May Parker."

May Parker blinked in surprise but smiled warmly. "Well thank you, Walt. You just call me May then." She looked at him keenly. "Walking our Gwen home?"

"Yes, May." He said quickly."Gwen had been such a help to me in getting accustomed to the city. Now I feel the need to escort her when I cross paths with her."

"I see," she said. "How nice." She looked at Gwen blushing. "Oh, Ben. Didn't you find something to show Gwen going through Peter's things?"

Ben Parker snapped his fingers and kissed May's cheek. "Oh yes! Right you are my love! Gwen do you have a moment?"

Gwen looked at Walt who smiled and then nodded. "Sure! Uh, thank you Sir for-"

"And Walt can keep me company for a bit on the porch while we get to know one another," May said.

Gwen whipped her head to look at May but Walt nodded smiling. "It would be my pleasure May."

"Great!" Said Ben taking Gwen's hand and leading her into the house. "I was going through some of Peter's gaming things and I found somethings you and Harry might want..."

May smiled and invited Walt to take a seat on the porch which he did. "Our Peter, Gwen and Harry were such close friends. Like part of the family."

Walt smiled. "So I had heard. I'm sorry fir your loss. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about you all and Peter too. Gwen's very fond of you."

May nodded smiling. "She's such a dear. We tend to think of her as a daughter of sorts." She looks at Walt. "Which is why it's been so hard for her to come around, being Spider-Woman after all, poor thing."

Walt's smile didnt falter but it was close. This May was sharp! "Excuse me? Spider-What?"

"Spider-Woman," May said folding her hands and looking directly into his eyes. "Gwen is Spider-Woman and blames herself for Peter."

Walt clears his throat. "I, uh-"

May smiles and continues. "And she really shouldn't. Peter wouldn't want that. Also you're probably not her Proffesor but you're definitely in a relationship with her or she..." she looks at him. "No... you both want to be if you aren't already. Yes?"

Walt continued smiling but saw no point in keeping quiet about it except... he looked at the house and she shook her head. Ben had no idea and she wasn't going to tell him. "Yes, May. Gwen and I are in a relationship and before you ask yes, I love her. Does that... bother you?"

May looked at him and smiled. "No. It concerned me briefly for a bit but you're obviously a gentleman of sorts... I suspect I should be more concerned for you. She's a bit of handful but sweet as pie. She'll have you twisted around her little finger if you're not careful."

Walt chuckled. "It might be too late for that warning but it's not a bad place to be."

May laughed happily and began to rock in her chair. "Oh good. Love birds are so sweet."

Walt blushed. "Our age difference doesn't concern you?"

May shook her head. "That girl maybe young but she was always rather mature. Much more sensible than Peter or Harry. I think it's her fathers influence and perhaps even his lack of influence too. She had to be more self-reliant and tried to be. Pushed herself... and now she has you."

Walt nodded. "She can rely on me. I promise you May."

May smiled. "Good. Then I will too. Take good care of her for all of us."

Walt smiled. "I will... for all of us."

They heard footsteps as Gwen and Ben rejoined them Gwen carrying a box. "Wow," Gwen was saying. "I can't believe you found these! All if our old character sheets and Peter's campaign notes! Are you sure I can have them?"

Ben chuckled nodding. "I'm sure it's what Pete would want. He wouldn't want them to go to anyone else but you and Harry. Not like May or I play Mazes & Monsters-"

"Labyrinths & Lairs," Gwen corrected him.

Ben shrugged. "I rest my case. There's some old comicbooks in the bottom there too. I tried to give them to the kid up the street but that little punk said Captain America was "lame" and didn't want them... damn brat. I'm sorry I even thought of even offering them to the little urchin! She's a war hero and Steve Roger's is a brilliant artist!" Ben eyeballed the box his hands twitching. "Actually maybe I should just hold on t-"

"Well," said May. "It was such a pleasure running into the both of you and good to give you some of these things! Right, Ben?"

Ben Parker snapped his eyes away from the box. "Hmm? Oh, yes! Yes... of course," he smiled as Gwen giggled. "Good to see you again!"

"It was a pleasure to meet you," May said smiling.

Walt shook their hands again. "The pleasure was all mine! I hope we meet again! Here Gwen let me take the box for you."

"Bye Ben & May!" Gwen waved linking her other arm with Walt's. "Love you!"

"Bye Gwen & Walt!" Ben said waving putting one arm around May. May did the same waving as well. "We love you too!"

"Come on," Gwen said excitedly, relieved that things had seemed to go well with Walt and May as well. That made him 3 for 3 in the important people in her life. "I kinda can't wait for you to meet the gang now!"

Walt chuckled nervously. "Ok, if that's what you really want. A night out with The Mary Janes... should be interesting."
