No, she abandons Gwen

Izzy hesitated, about to step back down, before the beam of a flashlight swung across the yard. A heartstopping bolt of panic shot through her, and she instead flung herself up the fence. The instincts of a gymnast took over, and in moments she was tumbling over the top into the alley on the other side.

She landed on her feet, though awkwardly, and momentarily stumbled before getting her balance. Her heart was racing with fear and her face was burning with shame at having left Gwen.

She started to run, but caught herself. That would just look suspicious. Forcing calmness, she started to walk down the alley, trying her best not to step too quickly. All she needed to do was just get a block or so away, then order an Uber. Easy.

And Gwen… well, she hadn’t actually been doing anything wrong. She hadn’t been drinking or anything, and it wasn’t illegal for her to just be somewhere where **** was. At least, Izzy didn’t think it was. Gwen would be fine. She’d be fine.

If that’s really the case, then surely there’s no harm in you going back for her, a part of Izzy objected. She did her best to silence it.

Izzy reached the end of the alley, exiting it onto the sidewalk of a tight residential street. She looked left, then right, to no end. She didn’t know the area, of course. She’d only visited Kingston twice before today. She picked a right turn arbitrarily, and started moving at a pace just short of a jog down the sidewalk. She got her phone out, preparing to call for a ride. Her hand shook.

She reached the next corner, and placed the order. The app momentarily announced that her driver would be there in four minutes. She fidgeted nervously as she waited—she was a block away from Alpha Pi Beta now, but her outfit pretty clearly marked her as a party-goer.

Finally, she heard the sound of a car approaching from around the bend.
