A Choice

Chapter 11

Tripp paces back and forth in Sam's room. Finally, he says, "We are not telling your sisters!"

Sam rolls her eyes. "They're going to find out one way or another. I mean we are all living in the same house, after all. And you know how nosy they are."

It had been a very strange night for Tripp. After learning that he couldn't transform back into a boy at will, he and Sam had sneaked back to her room where he'd spent the night on her couch. Now it was morning, and they were discussing how to move forward with Tripp's new identity.

The last thing Tripp wanted was for Sam's sisters to find out. "They already tease me non-stop for being kind of feminine. Imagine how bad it would be if they found out I was literally a girl now!" He could only imagine the horrors that would await him.

"Yeah, but the fact is you are a girl now," Sam says, "at least physically. And it might be worse if you try and hide it from them. Better rip the band-aid off quick than draw out your own suffering. We can't just pretend like you're some new friend that showed up out of the blue. Sooner or later they'll wonder what happened to Tripp and why this version of you just happened to show up exactly when boy-you disappeared."

Tripp knew she was right, but he didn't want to admit it. If there was any way - any way at all - that he could avoid telling Samantha's sisters, he would do anything to make it happen.

Tripp had a choice to make: Tell Sam's sisters the truth and get it over with; or avoid telling them and risk even worse consequences.
