Stay

You stand there quietly, her scent still lingering in your nose, till she returns. All traces of what she was doing are gone, she is immaculate. Hair back in a tight ponytail, a new crop top, leggings, running shoes, a zip up hoodie, hanging open, and a rather large expensive looking purse. She smiles at you, your car keys in hand, and says, “Well, we both know you are a fucking liar, but it’s fine, it just means we have a lot to do tomorrow.”

“What?”

“Come on Candy, hmm, are we married to that name?” She looks you over, “Things to think about. Come on don’t just stand there.” She walks away. You hurry after her. She walks fast, you walk quickly, but to keep up you actually have to jog a bit every few moments. You get to the car easily enough, and soon you are driving across town, a passenger in your own car. She keeps talking about all the fun you are going to have going to the DMV and changing your name, getting a new college id, coming out to your family and friends, and how she will happily be there all the way to guide you through your transition. She asks for your input several times, but doesn’t really wait for you to answer. It’s weird, it is like you are being willingly ****. You get to her apartment, a small 4 story building, and she parks on the street, pointing out that she needs to leave her space open for her car. The two of you head in.

The apartment isn’t exactly big, but it is very modern, very clean. “Can I get you a glass of wine?”

“Sure.”

She puts her things away, hangs up the hoodie, and clicks on the t.v. A few clicks on the remote and she finds a women’s gymnastics competition, then sets down the remote and pours each of you a glass of white wine. She brings you the glass and as you take it she leans in and gives you a kiss.
