Red Wine and Questions

“So my dad is Korean. First generation American. My mom is black obviously but is actually a quarter Mexican which is where my name came from. It means snow.” Neva explains about her heritage to the group that had crammed into your dorm.

“Alright.” Sadie said as she poured more wine into her cup as she sat on her bed. “Enough softball questions. Let’s play a drinking game and really turn up the heat.”

“What did you have in mind?” Jerri asked.

“It’s called ‘Drink if…’ it’s like never have I ever except you say something like… drink if you’re not a virgin…” she trailed off as she sipped her wine.

“Is that the first question?” You asked “Cause we all know after today you aren't.” The whole group laughed recalling you and Sadie’s unfortunate situation that afternoon.

“Yes! Yes it is.” Sadie grinned as she looked at you and the group.

“Well we all know I have a boyfriend so…” Neva raised her glass and drank.

The groups eyes darted between you and Jerri. Together you both raised your glasses and drank.

“Ooooo” Sadie and Neva chimed as you both lowered your glasses.

“Alright who’s next?” Neva asked.

“Umm let’s go clockwise. So Jerri you’re next.” Sadie said looking at how they sat in the room.

You and Jerri looked at each other from across the room. Neither of you raised your glasses.

“Hmmm ok ok.” Sadie said giving you a wry smile. “Harp it’s your turn.”

You thought for a minute trying to come up with a good question.

“Drink if you’ve ever smoked pot.”

“Ugh come on Harp that’s such a lame question.” Sadie said taking a big gulp of her wine.

“It’s not a bad question.” Jerri said as she took a swig of her wine.

“It may not be for us.” Neva said as she drank, “but Look who hasn’t drank yet.”

All eyes turned to you. “Hey! It’s not that I don’t wanna try. Just never had the opportunity is all.”

“Oh we can fix that.” Laughed Sadie.

“Ok it’s getting late. What do you say to once more around the circle? And this time let’s make them really good.” Neva said. The group quickly agreed.

“Drink if you’ve ever had a threesome!” You shared a nervous glance around the room at Sadie’s question. When no one drank you all burst out laughing.

“Well it’s good to know we’re not that adventurous… yet.” Joked Sadie, “Jerri your turn.”

“Drink if you’ve ever hooked up… made out with… another girl.” Jerri asked, her sudden timidness went unnoticed as the wine took its hold.

Both you and Sadie raised your glasses to your lips. Sadie though was just bluffing for laughs. You however drank.

“What? It was truth or dare!” You respond to the surprised look’s you’re getting.

“No need to defend yourself,” Sadie said as she set her glass down and pushed herself forward and out of bed. “In fact here…” and with that she got up crossed to you and without hesitation pressed her lips to yours.

It was gentle. You could sense her confidence in her actions… and tell she was holding back as your lips stayed engaged for the briefest of seconds.

“There!” Sadie proclaimed and drank from her cup after pulling away like it had been nothing. Neva was laughing hysterically… Jerri on the other hand looked more puzzled.

“Ummm” Neva pondered as she continued on to her turn. “Drink if you’ve been arrested.”

The group looked at each other with trepidation… slowly Jerri raised her glass.

“What???” You and the rest of the girls broke out in shock.

“Relax! It wasn’t anything crazy. Some friends and I just got in trouble for setting off some fireworks in the street… Nothing crazy.”

“Did the put you in cuffs?” Neva asked astounded.

“…yes…” Jerri admitted, “but only for like 5 minutes while they took down our names. It was just to scare us. They didn’t even bring charges.”

“Still.” Sadie said sitting back in her bed, “I didn’t realize you were such a bad girl.”

“Yeah yeah. Come in Harper it’s your question then it’s time for bed.” Jerri deflected.

You’d been thinking hard about this question since your last turn. You wanted it to be good.

“Drink if you’ve ever gotten yourself off in a public place.”

“Guilty.” Sadie drank in possibly the least surprising development.

You had hoped Sadie would respond that way and draw the attention away from yourself as you slowly drank. Unfortunately Jerri saw you.

“Ooooo Harper. What are you trying to hide girl!” Shit. The redhead had called you out.

“Sadie drank first!” You objected trying to deflect.

“A) yes she did. Sadie spill. B) You’re next so don’t get comfortable. And C) it was your question so don’t get embarrassed with us!” Neva teased eager to hear the two stories.

“Not much to say really.” Sadie said with a shrug. “This past summer I was on a date with that guy you met earlier. He thought it would be fun to finger me as he drove to mess with me. He didn’t realize when he stopped to focus more on the road, that I’d finish the job.”

“And you?” They eyes turned towards you now awaiting your story.

“Ok so…” you began, “a couple of months ago I was bored and decided to go on this hike. It’s this really secluded trail that hardly anyone ever uses. It goes up by this waterfall. It’s really quite cute, but because it’s so far back in no one is ever there… Well as I got close I realized that there was a few people there… this couple… and they were you know…”

“No. No we don’t know. What were they doing??” Teased Sadie.

“They were fucking!” You shot back bluntly to a laugh.

“No no. How were they fucking?” Your new roommate already knew how to push your buttons.

“Since you asked… Doggie style. And they were naked naked. Like they really must’ve thought there was no chance anyone else was coming by.”

“That’s great and all…” Neva asked, “But this is supposed to be about you getting off in public not some random couple.”

“Well at first I was just gonna turn around and head back… but then I could hear them… and one thing lead to another.”

“Oh my god. You got yourself off watching them?!?” Jerri asked amazed. You didn’t answer and instead took a big drink finishing off your wine.

“And on that note… it’s time for bed.” You announced having throughly embarrassed yourself.
