He gets the lead, but not in the way he'd hoped.

I stand before the judges, Ms.Bailey, Coach Peters, the rugged PE teacher, and the crochety old Math teacher Mrs.Perkins, as I have poured my heart and soul into my audition. I hit all the notes of my song and in my opinion nailed my monologue, and now I wait with bated breath as the last few students perform their auditions, Ms.Bailey normally announces the casting before we leave, I've wondered before if she just doesn't really care who she puts in each role and just wants to be done, but I quickly dismiss that notion. Ms.Bailey cleary just has an impeccable eye for talent, I mean otherwise, why would she have cast me in the lead every year she's been here? My heart skips a beat as I see her staple a piece of paper to the bulletin board next to the theater doors.

I run up to join my peers and to see my role when I'm met with snickers and smirks I see what has happened, as when I look at the roles I see my name, but not as the male lead, but as Fantine! She is technically a lead, the poor girl who loses her job and is **** into prostitution within the course of act 1 and who comes back as a ghost near the end. But surely Ms.Bailey has made some sort of mistake, I can't play Fantine, I'm a guy!
