Alternate beginning - The ex girlfriend

It had been a rollercoaster ride, my relationship with Jade. We had met at a local bar on a Friday night and sparks flew, the night ending up at my place where she spent the night. It seemed unusual for both of us for things to move so fast, but after the few awkward days that followed we were soon an item, spending almost every night together.

The sex was good, great even. She was pretty and had a perky, athletic body but it was her energy that I found most attractive. She was a little wild, feisty both generally and in the bedroom and this led to a lot of fun nights out together which often ended up as fun, late nights in.

Jade's apartment wasn't far from mine and she shared it with a guy named Luke. They had been friends since high school and were thick as thieves, which may have been a source of jealousy but it wasn't. Luke was gay.

We all hung out from time to time, Jade loving going out to gay bars with Luke and dancing the night away. It wasn't really my scene, the music was annoying and drinks expensive, so often I would sit out and leave them to it, especially the wild, **** fuelled nights. I would stay home, often welcoming a very hammered Jade into my bed in the early hours of the morning, sweaty and sparkling with glitter.

As is the case with many fast moving relationships, soon enough the cracks started to appear and we had broken up. Although I realised it was for the best there were still strong emotions there and after an initial period of not speaking and being angry at each other, we reconnected as friends. We would message occasionally to check in on each other and things seemed amicable. That's why when she invited me over for a drink one evening to catch up I thought little of it. It would be nice to see her, put the past behind us and move on. Or so I thought.
