At the Wedding Pt 7 Changing Venues

"Walt?"

"Yeah," he said passing out the glasses of beer and champagne as they walked. The ceremony over it was time for the reception. Walt had his boots off walking in the grass with Ilulu.

"How'd you get the beers already?" Sasha asked taking hers looking at the frothy frosty mug. She took a sip. "Oh man that's good!"

Walt chuckled. "That's why we ducked over to the main house. I helped Chuck and Dee out with the pantry and they said to take some... but anyone else asks it's "magic" got it?" There's some giggling and eye rolling but everyone nodded.

"I have a question too," Ilulu said. She looked down as she walked barefoot in the grass. "Am I doing this right?"

Walt glanced down. "No no. Don't press down. Lightly. See. Don't want to hurt them. Doesn't that tickle nicely?"

She smiled as the grass wriggled against her feet shouting something. "Oh wow! That's funny!" She giggled. "Why doesn't the grass at home do this?"

Walt shrugged. "Because it'd scream all the time and if you have something special everyday it's no longer quite as novel. We already have a bunch of plants that the Gardners have gifted over the years. Mustn't be greedy and I like our grass fine. This is just a pleasant change of pace."

A nearby toad grumbled something rude about "adventurer assholes", "dumb dragons", "mini maps" and "stay on the path". Walt looked at him and narrowed his eyes and saw the color drain from the toads face. He looked familiar and Friday ID'd him. "Something wrong, Toadsworth?"

Toadsworth smiled obsequiously. "Not at all dear guests. Please make your way to the reception area."

Walt nodded and smirked. He'd spotted something. He bent down and picked up the gold coin and flipped it to Toadsworth. "Yall missed one." He and Ilulu continued walking in the grass next to the path as the rest of his party stayed on it.

"Game breaking shoeless hobo cretin," Toadsworth grumbled pocketing the coin.

Walt chuckled. Normally he'd make an issue, but Toadsworth was always like that from what he could remember. Some of the toads were surly characters but Daisy's people put up with them and it wouldn't be his place to chastise them. He still enjoyed taking the starch out of their shorts just a bit though... a little appropriate misbehavior was fine and good for the soul. "Remember what I told yall. Especially you Ilulu, Sasha and Nora." They nodded. Nora gave him wink. They understood that they were part of some harmless game between Walt, Charles and Daisy and if they played their cards right it could be a valuable experience. Nora was with Walt.

Walt looked at Senko who nodded. He smiled. She had some of their gear safely stored just incase just like he did. "I'm sure everything is going to go to hell at somepoint but we're already in it so there's no use worrying about it now. Let's all try to enjoy ourselves until whatever happens, happens."

"I do not doubt that you are right, Walt but I hope not," Penny said. "It was such a beautiful ceremony! And I am looking forward to the rest of the wedding rituals as well!"

Walt smiled taking her hand as Neo perched on his shoulder. "Oh? Which ones are you looking forwards too?"

Penny smiled. "All of them! The first dance! The cutting of the cake! The tossing and catching of things the-"

"Oh hell!" Walt said.

Penny looked at him as Neo chuckled, she'd caught his reaction. "Something wrong, Walt?"

Walt smiled and **** a laugh. "Nope... I just realized a bad joke is all. Nothing to worry about...," he muttered. "With any luck things will all go to hell before the garter and bouquet tosses. Well that's what I get. Too many years of just coming with Friday. Almost let my gaurd down. Oh," he pointed to a large stadium like building. "Looks like that's gonna be it... must have been a last minute change. It'll be inside a training arena... a sunken one..."

He's smiling but Neo pats him and raises an eyebrow. He nods. "Yeah... my gut feeling again. Could be just because it deviates from my intel..."

Neo shakes her head "no" and glances at the others and gives him a nod. If there's trouble... they'll be ready for it.

Walt nodded and smiled. "Thanks. Well maybe it'll all work out. A wedding inside a great big kill box... what could go wrong?"

"I am certain everything will be fine dispite the venues tactical disadvantages," Penny said smiling sunnily.

Neo sighed. Well it was definitely jinxed now... but she grinned. It could still be a fun time!
