Monday had quickly become Gerald’s least favorite day of his schedule even though he had only one class to deal with. The problem was it was a six hour class with Donaldson. Most classes were required to sit for at least five or six hours per week (depending on how many credits the class was worth) and to some extent the teachers were allowed some level of flexibility and many even allowed input from students at the beginning of the quarter. Most teachers thought breaking it up into two or three classes per week was the best path. Plus going six days without reviewing the material in class was an easy path to forgetting it. Which is why most classes were either 2, 3 hour classes or 3, 2 hour classes or something like that.

Professor Donaldson was the one noteworthy exception on the entire campus. He was considered a genius within physics and if he wasn’t so insufferable to be around could likely be making much more money and working at a much more prestigious school.
