Jessica stayed quiet for a long time, processing what she just heard.

Every second she didn’t speak, Claire’s heart grew heavier, and the blame intensified. She even closed her eyes, in case Jess would want to hit her. She’d take it.

Claire did a double take. “What?”

Jess had cleaned up herself, and they cleaned the mess on the sofa together. They put a blanket over it, and were now sitting on it, looking at each other.

Claire transcribed what had happened up to that point, along with her suspicions of how this all happened. She had also mentioned Anna.

“I see.” Both sisters were silent for a bit.
