Some tough negotiations

The three of you sit quietly in Mr. Cummingham’s office, looking downward like children who’ve been called to the principal’s office and are about to be punished. The curator himself sits on the other side of his desk, clacking away at his keyboard. He begins, “I’m pleased to say we have no records of any previous offenses from any of you. Given the circumstances, I do not find it necessary to seek criminal charges.”

You all sigh in relief.

“…However!” he continues. “The cost of replacing the item you destroyed is not cheap. I could simply charge Miss Marie with paying it back. I suspect that would keep her in debt for quite a few years, which would provide plenty of time for her to reflect on her careless behavior.” Marie shakes her head emphatically. “On the other hand… Having three beautiful young women visit this museum together is quite a rare occurrence. You truly embody the very purpose, the very essence of this establishment. If you would be so kind as to help with a new exhibit of mine, I would be willing to look the other way regarding any payment.” Marie nods emphatically.

Grey agrees with no hesitation. “I will do whatever I can to make up for my sister’s actions. She is my responsibility.”

Marie looks at you urgingly. “Come on. You gotta help me! We’re friends, right, uh…”

“Emilia! My name’s Emilia!” Ugh… Marie’s not exactly your favorite person right now, but you’re not certain you dislike her enough to saddle her with years of debt. Besides, it would make Grey sad too, and you definitely like Grey. “Fine…” you mutter.

Marie cheers. “Okay, cool! So… what do we have to do? You want us to, like, clean the floors or whatever? Cuz Grey can do that all by herself. She’s good at cleaning.” Why has Grey not hit this girl yet?
