Chapter 243 by Somburliss Somburliss

How does your museum visit begin?

A greeting from a helpful curator

Walking behind Grey and beside Marie, you ascend the outside steps of the museum. The exterior is made up of smooth stone, white and navy blue, while gold letters overhead spell the name, ‘PEWTER CITY MUSEUM OF CULTURE AND NATURAL SCIENCES’.

When you step inside, you see an interior that’s just as fancy as the street view. The ceiling is incredibly high, and the floors are shiny enough for you to see your reflection. They really take care of this place! Just being here makes you feel twice as classy as usual. Which is a lot, considering thine own class is markedly beyond that of the common rabble. That’s… how people who visit museums talk, right?

Grey kindly pays for your ticket, as well as Marie’s, gaining you entry to a wide room with gigantic, open archways leading to different wings of the museum. Marie’s face remains glued to her phone, but you look around in awe at the sheer size of the room. There’s a big square in the center of the room which is raised about a foot off the ground. It looks like there should be something on top of it, like a big sculpture, or a giant skeleton of an ancient animal. But there’s nothing? No cool, exciting exhibit for this huge room?

You ask, “Hey Marie, don’t you think they should have something in this room? They have a spot in the middle and everything.”

Disinterested, she answers, “Huh? I ‘unno. It’s just some big stupid room.” Wow… Marie is a lot of fun.

Your mind starts running through various scenarios of museum heists that could explain the missing exhibit, but before you get very far, the three of you are greeted by an older man. His attire is quite formal, his gray hair is neat and tidy, and his posture is perfectly upright. “Greetings, ladies. My name is Mr. Cummingham, and I am the proud curator of this fine museum. If I may, you three look a bit aimless. Might I interest you in a tour of the many exhibits this museum has to offer?”

Grey quickly accepts. “Yes, please. That would be quite helpful.”

And with that, you’re not only in a museum, you have your very own tour guide! Err, “curator” he said, right? Either way, it’s cool! If only Marie thought the same…

What kinds of exhibits are you shown?
